Modelling --How it has change - new technologies

(photo below) A decade or 2 ago MRR carried and article on modelling the White River Junction Central Vermont train station. I have decided to take on the challenge station anew. I am indebted Jim Hediger for his MRR  article that showed every dimension of the station and James Copland's excellent article  printed in the same magazine a few decades ago.

Brick decorations --- how to model

How does one model these brick decorations?  Above the semi circular window there are 3 rows of bricks with their ends pointed out. Above the window on the lower right there are a series of vertical bricks which make a polygon.

You may have to scroll up and down to see both.

Anyone tried to model this type of brick decoration?

Painting mulllions

I have a Walther's Cornerstone grain elevator that I am assembling. This kit has several windows with mullions which I would like to paint. What is the best method to do this without getting the color over the window pane itself.

South Paris, ME

I’m hoping to build a model of the train station in N scale; does anyone have a set of plans?

Storage Tank Types,..for oil, gasoline, propane, etc, etc

I'm interested in a little summary of the various types of storage tanks we often see on our model railroads, ...and their specific uses,... as well as their alternative uses.

Walthers Glacier Industrial Sand

Can anyone explain the purpose and/or the process the equipment in the kit is used for so it can be modeled properly? So what is the purpose of the Intake Hopper? Does the hopper that is part of the main Elevator for loading railcars just transfer "finished sand" into the concrete silos (that part seems logical but don't want to assume so still going to ask)? Also, according to the instructions this kit "...can be combined with other buildings to model a complete operation".

MUST SEE VIDEO "The Language of Light"

 Hi Guys!

In my latest YOUTUBE video "The Language of Light" we explore many different varieties or qualities of light and the way lighting can enhance the overall look or feel accentuating the details on your model railroad.

Tru-color paint

I am planning on air brushing a grain elevator using Tru-color paint. The problem is that I feel like the sheen is glossier than I desire. I have a jar of Tru-color flat coat; can I add a small quantity of this to the basic paint to reduce the sheen, or do I need to air brush the model afterwards with the flat coat?

As the Table Turns

Some months ago I submitted this post attached to another very old thread.
I am working on to recreate the 70 foot turntable used by the Southern Pacific at Port Costa, California.
