Static Grass Applicator

I recall seeing at least 2 x "plans" for making static grass applicators. One was posted by Blue Hills and I believe the other was submitted by Marc Fournier.

I have been searching for them, but so far with no luck (which say a lot about my searching capabilities).

Can anyone point me to the locations or provide a link?

Thanks

remediating roundhouse weathering which was too dark

I converted my original pictures to B&W and then made notes about where to increase tonal contrast.  I used AIM weathering powders, cosmetic sponges, Q-tips, and Tamiya craft cotton swabs to add the desired contrast, and Krylon low-odor acrylic finish to seal the work.

New pictures were taken with incandescent lights (60W bulbs).  The original roundhouse pictures are at this link:

too much weathering powder resulted in structure which is too dark - how do I correct this?

Need ideas for a modern bridge for double-track on a curve

I need ideas for a bridge in this area - maybe 16" (120 scale feet) long. As usual, I can't spare much height for the deck - 1/2", maybe 5/8" which will leave me with 3" clearance to the rails below. The trouble will be dealing with the scale width - it will probably have to be almost 40 scale feet wide to meet the clearance needed on the curve. I live in Atlantic Canada where Tall Steel Viaducts are common but I don't think I can make this work with the double-track.

Using plaster laden cheesecloth over cardboard web

I am finally putting in the mountain division on the CCC&StL.

I use the old tried and true method of building a cardboard web and then placing plaster soaked paper towels over the web to create the hard-shell.

I am wondering if using cheesecloth instead of paper towels would work and then give me more of a plaster cloth type substrate that would conform better to my web lattice.

Does anyone have experience using cheesecloth in this manner and if so what are some of the drawbacks?

Thanks

Painting a Styrene Bridge

Working on the construction of a scratch built (styrene) dual track through truss bridge. Due to its length (52") I have incorporated the use of an aluminum box beam into the design. The alum box is the stuff you get at H-Depot for making house door screen frames, about 1/4" x 3/4", and white  (I believe its powder coated).

i have no experience w/ the alum stuff, as far as painting. What are your thoughts on type of paint (acrylic vs. enamel), should I primer? I plan on painting after full construction. Your thoughts will be helpful

Modern Transloader in HO Scale?

Hey all -

Just finishing up the final touches on my small switching layout.  I have a team track for which I want to do transloading on for grain - and I'm looking for a modern transloader.  Any ideas?

The area is located at the right side of the photo - thanks.

Evolution of a River

I have been working recently on the "Oneapee River" crossing on my Diamond River Valley Railroad. Please enjoy the pictures. while I am only using a simple point and shoot for these pictures I hope to be able to take some nicer shots once the scenery is  more or less complete.

The first shot is that of the blue foam being roughed in.

Carferry design ideas...

Hi to all ...I am going to have a carferry on my 'Kootenay Western' layout, between Kelowna and Penticton BC. I have scratch built a ferry apron (photo attached below). Now, I won't have the room for a tug, so it will be some sort of ferry or self-propelled barge. I'm looking at two tracks, and about 22" long (will hold 6 cars maximum). Any ideas appreciated...
