MEK

Joe, I just wanted to thank you for the info of using MEK for plastic gluing. A pint of MEK at my local hardware store cost me $10 and I can not imagine having to buy any more!

A Trip To The Woodshed

Five day weekend ahead of me, most of which will be spent gluing down dirt and leaves, and planting trees:

Need information on Big Four Freight House

i'm helping out with construction of an O-Scale railroad, and one of the structures that I would like to build is a Freight House like the one's for the Big Four (NYC RR), like the one American Model Builder's makes in HO Scale.  Unfortunately, my HO Kits are in storage an unaccessible, and I need to build a mock up before I start working on the scenery around it (the scratchbuilt structure will come much later).  I have the basic footprint of the building from information provided from the manufacturer's website, but I don't recall the overhang on the roof.

car float

Hi everybody

I'd like to build a little layout to represent a New York pier but unfortunately the car float and the apron car float by Walthers are retired; so, I'm looking for plans or drawings or pictures and I will try to scratchbuild them. Can somebody give me a little help?

thanks a lot for your attention!!!!

greetings from Italy

Gluing Down Structures

Hello-

I am curious how structures are placed on layouts.  I'm assuming most stand alone structures are simply placed

down.  However I have a large roundhouse in which I need to stay put for proper alignment to turntable.

Could I put down say a dab of white glue at each corner to keep roundhouse from shifting?

Coloring Ballast

I have 5-6 coffee cans full of limestone that is sized for HO ballast but it’s a lot lighter that I want it to be.  I was thinking about getting some of the Bragdon Weathering powders and tumbling the limestone with the powder to get the color I need.  Do you think this would work or is there something better to use?

Found this page with excellent HO scale city dioramas at:

Crooked models are prototypical!

walthers ho blast furnace

Hello  to everyone.

I'm new here and i don't want to start trouble but the walther blast furnace floor is wrong. It is a 16 tuyer furnace and the one's i worked on only needed two bottle cars because they only produced one to one and a half of iron. i'm just letting everyone know. I worked at Wheeling pittsburgh steel in monessen,pa and put in 10 years on the furnace's and the only the big furnace produced 3 to 4 bottle cars of iron.
