Rain gutters and scuppers - HO

How do you model rain gutters and rain scuppers in HO. I was thinking Evergreen channels and tubes. What size?

What other options are there? I know there are detail parts but they are expensive and not well stocked.

Thanks in advance...

Size of scenery materal for O Scale

This may seem like a foolish question, but I don't want to make any assumptions here.  What size of scenic material should I use for O Scale.  In particular ground foam for making the different types of trees and flock for static grass.  For instance do I still use fine ground foam for the pine needles of Conifer trees? And for Static Grass would I just use double the length that is recommended for HO Scale in Joe Fugate's Video on Scenery?

Weathering a trestle bridge

Hi guys,

1.I am new to weathering, so really need some practical advice.

I have a Walthers trestle bridge that i am about to instal on my layout. The bents are made of plastic.

any tips on colours/techniques etc to achieve maximum benefit. It will be installed  on my coal branchline.

2. Is it better to weather rocks before fixing onto layout or when all in place?

Modeling Rubber Membrane Roofs

Any body have any ideas for modeling a flat, rubber membrane roof, such as typically seen on industrial buildings? I have several flat roofed buildings for my paper mill complex, and I'd like to vary the roof from the typical tar and stone approach or metal roof that I've already used. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Joe, I want to thank you for the advice to use a hot glue gun for the cardboard frame. i had always used a staple gun and the glue gun works much better!!

Water's edge - how do you do it?

Most layouts have some water somewhere, and unless it's a pond, it has to end rather abruptly at the edges of the layout.  I'd like to see how people manage to make that edge look good.  Do you paint the edge like the fascia?  Leave it clear?  Hide it in some way?  What about the back, where it hits the backdrop?

Nice Modeling Photos & Cool Photography

Stumbled across this site containing great photography of steel and mining facilities. Real good interior detailing photos and the photography is very cool. Check out the N scale layout too. Very nice.

Modeling Snow

After seeing pictures of GeorgeV's Rochester and Richmond Layout and Mike Danneman's article in the December Model Railroader.  What is the BEST way to model snow??? And how in the heck do you keep it clean and white????

Both of these layouts are stunning and the modeled snow looks amazing!  But how do you get those kind of results and keep those kind of results.

And if anyone is willing to share some more snow shots....lets see them!
