JV Models (John Rendall) Ward's Salvage

I have an old JV Models (otherwise known as John Rendall) Ward's Salvage kit. It has been opened and parts are missing. I am not worried about the parts as I have a decent stock of bits and pieces and stripwod. However I have no instructions or drawings. Would anyone happen to have a set that they could scan or copy. I have tried contacting JV Models by email but no luck. I might have to resort to old fashioned snail mail. If anyone could help I would sure appreciate it and could reimburse you for any costs incurred.

Hydracal Plaster

I have been trying to find hydrocal plaster in my area and no one seems to carry it. Tried hobby stores and hardware stores and home improvement stores.

I want to take a shot at creating my own plaster buildings and wondering if there is a decent subsitute for it? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jack

Roof trusses

In the near future I'll be kitbashing the Walter's "Gas Plant" into Palmer Abestos. I believe it will possible to see through the window up to the underside of the flat roof and I'd like to have roof trusses to add realism. I could scratch build some, but I wondering if trusses are available as a detail item from a supplier. I've searched and haven't found any. I could tap my friend Michael to laser cut some for me, but I would have to sketch them up which would take me longer than building them myself. Any help will be appreciated.

Scenery update on the UP Oregon Division!

Hey guys thought I'd post an update to show ya what I've been up to! Been working on ballasting the entire railroad, adding ground cover and getting buildings placed. I had a guy from the NMRA come see the railroad yesterday and take photos and do an interview in hopes to be part of the tours for the convention here in Portland next August!

Static Grass

I built one of the static grass applicators using a Harbor Freight bug zapper as explained in MRH. The electrical charge is going through because I got "zapped" but the Kibri grass I am using won't stand up. My question, "Is the static grass used by the Noch and other static charge devices made of a material specific to this application?"

I'm wondering if the Kibri grass I am using, which is 25+ years old, is made of a non-static material.

Photo backdrop printing services

Has anyone used an on-line printing shop for their photo backdrop? I am looking for some recommendations from anyone who has had good experiences with one.   I have pieced together my panorama, made sure everything is right, and now I am looking for a good shop that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

Best Regards,

John

How do you - IVY

Working on a mostly scratch built structure - an old stone church with stain glass windows.  I've got a board to mount it on and lights to put inside with a battery etc.  And I have a ways to go with assembly and painting yet.  BUT, I'm thinking that ivy climbing the outer walls of this church would add to the effect. Has anyone modeled ivy climbing walls before?  What did you use?
