N scale engine house parts = HO scale freight depot?

I have a place on my layout where I'd like to put a long freight depot. I don't really see any kits that match what I have in mind and even if i did, my budget is tight as usual. I had been mulling over ideas for scratch building something on the cheap and was going through some of my stuff when I came upon some laser cut N scale roof trusses and windows for a two stall engine house.

What is This?

I am busy building a Juneco Models Cartierville station kit for the Cornhill & Atherton RR

There are a lot of detailed castings supplied with the kit, but I am at a loss as to what one item is.

See below sitting on the platform – looks like 2 oil drums mounted on a frame, one with a basket on top and a coffee pot sitting in between.

What size mesh for a Static Grass Applicator.

Hi.

I am about to start making a static grass applicator using a positive ion generator that I have. I understand the electronics and the mechanics of making the applicator but don't know how the mesh size relates to the fibres length. What would be the recomended mesh size for say 2, 5, 7 and 10 mm fibres? I will be able to make more than one mesh so would like to match mesh to fibres.

O scale Shortline Water Tank Kit and the Ridgeway sanding kit.

Question is- has anybody built Banta kits, how well do they go together, do they have a steep learning curve?

Looking for ideas to produce sage bushes

I'm going to be designing a desert scene on my layout and would like to produce some sage bushes along the tracks. I'm looking at what will work best for this. I've seen all sorts of other bushes but not any sages bushes. What would best. I want to get the colors correct too. Suggestion on what to use?

I am looking to build a few structures from kits before I start scratchbuilding. (I haven't scratchbuilt a structure since 1968!!!!). I am looking at the following:

How to scale photo backdrop correctly?

Is there a formula for scaling a photo backdrop so the hills are the same proportional height between the real scene and the layout? I've read several tutorials on photo backdrops and people just seem to stitch, adjust color balance, print, and paste it on. I've been reading webpages for a few days on calculating some of this but I've not been able to find something I think matches what I need.

I'd like it proportional so if an HO scale person was viewing the hills, they would look the same relative height as I see them.

Hello,

I'm building a structure that will have an overhead roll up door to allow entry of a boxcar into the building (HO scale). Does anyone know the dimensions for such a door? I've got a picture below and can estimate based on other building items, but I was looking for a quick answer. Thanks!
