track for a lift off bridge
Hi all,
I'm finally close to completing the structure for the lift off bridge on my HO layout and I'll try to post a photo soon.
The problem I'm facing now is, how do I bridge the gap between the fixed portion of the layout and the removable bridge?
I read somewhere of "using modified rail joiners, but it didn't explain how to do it.
Anybody's got experience on rail gaps?
Thank you for any help or suggestions you'll share!

hare trigger
Hi everyone
Kind of a simple question that I have. How far can you make the two gaps in the rail for the trigger and throw rails from the switch that will have the Hare?
Also does it matter if the gaps are on the other side of a second switch wth a regular tortoise on the same rail as the switch that has the Hare, I guess what I'm saying is can I cut the gaps in the rails for the trigger rails any where I wish?
Thanks

Help with Steam Loco Sound Installation
Can somebody tell me what I did wrong with this loco wiring? I am installing a Soundtraxx 1000 DSD decoder in an old Balboa brass Southern Pacific Consolidation. The decoder is in the tender and I have 6 wires running from the decoder to the loco. They are as follows from left side of cab to right side of cab as you are looking at the back of the loco:
Right Rail Pickup (Red)
Motor Plus (Orange)
Function Plus (Blue)
Forward Headlight (White)
Motor Minus (Gray)
Firebox Light (Green)

RailPro Sound and Speaker Comparison (incl. DSM-8 vs iPhone 4 speaker)
This post is a follow-up to my previous post: What speaker for a stock Kato SD40-2 ?
I have purchased a number of speakers and said I would post some sound samples.
Here they are!

My thoughts on building track using the "Fast Tracks" System
I will post my thoughts as a reply so you won't have to scroll through all the pics each time.

update on painting rail
PeterAtt turned me onto the acrylic color Rusted Pipe. I have tried to emulate a busier mainline/yard track color with burnt umber as the base coat, and a wash of the rusted pipe over it. My technique still needs to improve to get consistent coloring, but i think I like the result.
However, for my yard trackage, I still am looking for the proper tie color to go with it. Most people have suggested a lighter grey, but it seems to wash out in very light grey ballast. I think I like a bit of a brown in it, but fairly light.

Could a DCS200 be made safe for N scale?
Would it be safe to use a DCS200 as a booster on an N scale layout? We will have a fresh battery in all boosters and will be protected with either PM42 or PSx breakers. I was worried the 8 amps would cause problems, but would the circuit breakers set at 4.5 amps make the 8 amps safe for our scale? So far it looks like we will have 5 booster districts and the command station will be stand alone. There will be two DCS200's in the mix.
Thanks
CV value "cheat sheet"?
Hello there, was wondering if any of you happen to have or know of a place that might have a generic list of CV values for Digitrax? Something like
Proto 2000 SD7 uses the following values..... etc..
Atlas C30-7 uses these following values.... etc..
I'm trying to get the best CV2, CV5 & CV6 for my locomotives. I know there's a "standard" for road engines and a standard for switches but I can't seem to find that list..
Thank you!!
NJ International FlashMaster 8003
Hi, I have a NJ International FlashMaster 8003 with opti-sensors that I am connecting with NJ International crossing signals 1095. Does anyone know if you can connect a bell ringer sound module to this unit, if so, how? What do I need to do? Thanks in advance!
