Digitrax throttles - sticky keys - Digi Tech support response
Since many have been helpful to me, thought I'd throw in an email to Digitrax and the reply I received concerning sticky keys on throttles like the DT400 et. al.
My email to Digi:
"I have a DT400 throttle that was never really used much due to severe hobby burn out and multiple hip replacements and hospitalization. When I have started to use it I find there is a problem with sticky keys; talked to others in the Greater Vancouver BC area and they too have this problem. So I'm guessing I'm not telling you something new.
New touch controls for control boards
Touch controls for control panels and other uses are available to model railroaders which can make very compact control panels, replacing mechanical switches with very small switches with internal lighting which can be placed on a track diagram.
DCC engine has life of its own from time to time
In the past, I was having trouble with my Digitrax super chief system. Engines would take off running like crazy and I couldn't control them. At some point these crazed engines would come to a stop and it appears I might have fried an decoder (I'm hoping for a decoder reset that might bring two engines this happened to).
The first recommendation was to install a new battery in the command station which I did, then I took the command station back to default; this seemed to help.
anyone using auto battery for layout/lighting power?
Is anyone here using auto battery for layout/lighting power?
It seems an automotive or marine battery could provide plenty of smooth 12v (actually 13v+) power for LED strip lighting, relays, tortoise power, electronics (with local 5v regulators), even track power (with PWM or linear controllers).

Atlas customline turnout
Hi guys!!!
I am planning a "street running¨ scene for my HO layout and recently got a couple of Walthers street system kits. One include parts to cover the track as if it was covered by concrete slabs. Any way, it mentions it is designed to be use with Atlas Customline turnouts (code 83). The rest of my turnouts are Walthers DCC ready ones. If I use one of the Atlas turnouts, is there going to be any special wiring needed?
Peco and Atlas Code 80
I'm designing another layout and have decided on using Peco turnouts with Atlas track, all code 80. First question: are they compatible? I was under the impression that all code 80 was compatible but just want to make sure. Also, after a disastrous attempt at trying to use Atlas remote turnouts, I've decided on manual ground throws for the Peco turnouts. What type of turnouts are compatible? Caboose makes several, but I'm confused on which ones to purchase.
Thanks
Tim

For the DCC experts
Hi DCC friends,
I have a question for the DCC experts.
I am building a hidden staging section which consists of two tracks. I'm thinking that if I have a DPDT switch on each of the turnouts (SW1 and SW2) it may be possible to isolate a small section of one rail which would effectively stop Loco1 on one track.
(I did these drawings on AutoCad so the dead lines show as black):
Hand-held DC Throttles
I need to replace two, old DC handheld throttles. Does anyone have recommendations for good quality, reliable throttles that are ready to use? I am not much good with the soldering iron so I don't want to build them.
Thanks for your help.
