Hornby surface mounted pt motor & 6-pin as 3-pin questions

Good evening,
First of all, sorry for the long post title. I thought it would be easier to find it if others had the same questions.

I have reached the point on my layout (no pun intended) where I will now be placing and securing the hornby surface point motors with double sided tape and letting the three wires down through the baseboard.
At the other end on the point control system, my track diagram is almost done and I am in a position to start mounting the toggle switches in a day or two.
I have three questions, and any answer and/ or advice would be most appreciated.

Current Keeper

Has anyone installed the new Current Keeper from Soundtrack in an Athearn Genesis GP9. If so how did you make the room for the installation

New Code 100 Flex Track Supplier

Bachmann has announced code 100 flex track. It is a bit pricey, but maybe it will be in steady supply.

DCC circuit breaker delema

Most DCC breakers and reversing loops require about 5 amps. of current to cycle. The MRC Prodogy Advanced  system uses 3.5 amps. So how do I protect my system?

Is there a primer for DCC stationary controllers

In my quest to computer control a shuttle train I find that I need info on stationary controllers for tortoise switch machines and some info on block detection. Does anyone have a source that a simpleton such as myself can understand?

A Wye and reverse loop conundrum

Good Afternoon All,

I am Pranav, an architect in India, and a model railroader who is trying his hand at his first DCC Layout. Small, I grant you, but so so much fun. Being in India, a country with almost no model railroading worth mentioning, mistakes are time consuming and expensive. I therefore come to you for advice.

Decoder air gaps.

Hi

I'm looking at finally getting around to upgrading my fleet of locos to Dcc sound over the next 12 months.

All look possible to convert, but I have concerns having enough air around the decoders on two switching locos (emd model 40) yes it can be done.

Any thought on the minimum amount of air / clearance around a decoders?

How do I make ties look like ties?

I just purchased a bag of 1000 HO scale railroad ties made of pine.  Some are going to be used for (non-running) dual gauge track on a diorama--a section of the railroad's own shop complex, HO and HOn30.  The rest will be new ties stacked somewhere.  How do I make light colored pine look like creosote-coated wood?  Is there a particular stain that's nice and easy to use?

Thanks!

SPROG base station and Tortoise Point motors - any issues?

Hi all,

I'm using a SPROG3 in conjunction with JMRI to run my layout, in order to be able to use my phone as a wireless throttle.  For my staging, I'm planning to use tortoise point motors to set the points, and the contacts on the point motors will be used to route power to whichever track is ultimately selected.
