Track and electrical/DCC

Insulated vs non insulated frogs

I have a couple of older but in good shape Peco Code 100 turnouts that I want to use on my Inglenook. How does one tell if they are electro or insulfrog turnouts? I am just getting into DCC and I think I understand that insulfrogs are best for DCC but I am not really understanding what I have to do if I use electrofrog turnouts.

Tsunami decoder question

Hi

Installing Tsunami sound decoder in older Atlas loco.  Decoder comes with capacitor attached.  Can this be removed and not effect decoder operation.  Space is very limited and this would provide extra space for speaker and decoder.  Thanks in advance for your input.

To diverge or to be normal...

That is the question.

I prefer to lay my switches so that the main line follows the normal position, but in a few areas it only works if the switch is placed so that the main line follows the diverging path, while the industry spur is on the straight path.

Discuss.

Turntable usage question

I have just installed the Heljan/Walthers DCC turntable and it is running fine (apart from some electrical hesitations when on the deck but that is for another question).

I have the main entry road finishing on a stub track as shown in A below. What I want to know is how the turntable would be left after one engine had used it.

Trainmaster (H-24-66) DCC Sound

I have an Atlas Trainmaster silver series. I would like to try my hand at installing a sound decoder. I am having difficulty locating a sound decoder manufacturer that has a sound file for the Trainmaster. Most indicate a switcher or C-Liner sound file.

NCE P2KSR decoder problems....

First post guys, so be kind.... Been a train hobbyist for a couple centuries, (well about 50 years on and off). I've been too busy work wise for the past 10 years and been inactive but now retired I'm back in full bore. My club went all DCC a few years ago and now I'm busy installing decoders, some sound, most not, to the locos I intend to run at club. Most have gone without much trouble but I bought 4 P2KSRs to install into a couple of these that I might keep.

Painting Track

After some months working on revenue projects, I've finally gotten back to the layout. Current task is painting rail. Working on the time honored principle of fire, aim, ready, now that I've made a mess of it I'm seeking advice. Well, not that awful, and that's what chainsaws are for, right? But please share your tips/experiences.

Problem with locos stalling on frogs using Frog Juicer

Hi there. I have a problem with the model railroad that I am just starting to build. I attach a drawing of the layout.

what decoder would fit a spectrum ballast spreader (HO)

I would like to instal a decoder into a spectrum self propelled (DC) ballast spreader. There is very little space. Can anybody suggest a decoder that would fit ? hardydittmar

Length of Reversing Section

HO and DCC. Test layout will become lower level of larger layout, but I want to run trains on what I have. In the Rev_1 reversing section the track length from MANNY to the crossover next to MOE holds my longest train. But the route from JACK to MOE doesn't. I think this is OK, however, because the rails to the right of MOE and GERT are wired to busses the same way as the rails at JACK. See the little arrows. Am I correct that this arrangement won't derange an autoreverser?
