DCC Decoder board for 3 Servos and 1 Relay

I have really enjoyed working with the Arduino / DCC projects that Geoff has started on the forum and was inspired to design a printed circuit board to simplify construction of the DCC Decoder circuit.

The board that I have had made supports three servos and one DPDT relay.  In addition there is a small prototype area where other components can be added.

I have put a video and other information about it on my web page at:

Just taking a look. Roco Z21 overview.

Below I am posting some videos of the Roco Z21 and the z21.  This is a use of a technology in a new way.  This has some good discussions by a hobby shop owner.  For you guys who want knobs see part two.

Which Solder Station?

This country boy is in the big city tomorrow and I'll have a chance to pick up a soldering station.

top contender is the Weller WES-51 on for $112 CDN,

or is the wcc100 good enough - only $49.  Is it good enough or should I cough up that extra $63?

the also ran is a Hakko - X888D-23BY for $99  this one is digital?

Will get a couple of extra tips whichever one I buy.  finer the better.

G Scale Control for around the wall with built in auto start/stop

I have a compatriot who has built an around the wall G scale shelf of a business.  He wants to be able to control the train remotely and have it start stop at various places on demand.

Any recommendation on a SIMPLE control system to do that?

Build Your Own Arduino Based DCC Controller

Since I saw Geoff Bunza's posting about a build-it-yourself DCC decoder (see:  http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/19070 ) I have been experimenting with that device and have just finished up an Arduino based DCC controller.

There is a video showing it in action as well as details on its construction on my web page.

Raised track bed in yards

Hi everyone. Sorry to keep asking questions but something don't come automatically to an Englishman:-(

I was always given to understand that I should put my track onto some sort of raised trackbed. None of your normal solutions were available over here. I remember back in the dark ages about Northeastern etc. However, when starting this new layout I found out that I could get Woodland Scenics foam raised track bed so off I went. It has gone down very well and I now have all of the track laid in the part I am currently constructing.

short circuits

Hi folks, I'm new to model railroading and here is my first issue. I just constructed a 9 x 12 DCC HO layout using Atlas flex track. My turnouts are Peco turnouts. Most of my engines run fine on the layout but I have a few that short out on certain turnouts . I run mainly Athearn  Genesis engines and have a few  Broadway Limited and Atlas engines as well. I have 2 NRE Gensets by Atlas , 1 runs just fine and the other shorts out on most of the turnouts. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Making track bumpers

Here I go again- function of not being able to walk down to the yard and look!

My railroad is supposed to be a 100 mile long short line between the New Haven and the B&M in the late 50s. I have laid all the ballast and am now thinking about track bumpers. I guess that they wouldn't have something like these:

There is a video on Youtube showing how to make timber bumpers:
