Track and electrical/DCC
Fast Tracks kits
I am considering buying a Fast tracks system to build dual gauge turnouts. This is an expensive item $430. Two reasons I am considering this. The first is I need at least 12 and maybe 15 dual gauge turnouts, and the cost to buy Shinahora turnouts is about $40 a piece and they don't seem to offer any turnouts that allow a single gauge to emerge as when only one or both gauges are diverging. Any input from those that have used them and the time per turnout would be appreciated.

DCC Booster
I have an NCE PowerCab setup. I am interested in a little more power. Can I use the Tam Valley 5 amp booster board in district mode for a down and dirty solution?
Back and Forth Auto Controls for Train Display Need Ideas
I need to set up a display of straight track about 16' long. The trains need to run back and forth automatically.
For several hours a day. Does anyone have any recommendations of what to buy to set this up?
Bachman GG-1 Sound
Hello, can anyone tell me if the new Bachmann GG1 should have the sound of the motors ramping up and down as the throttle is adjusted? I just purchased this model and all the sounds work accept there is no sound of the motors winding up and down as the throttle is adjusted. I know the GG is an electric loco but there must have been sound when it accelerated and deaccelerated. Is there possibly a CV that needs to be changed. Thanks.
Using DPDT to Wire a Pair of Test Track
I am attempting to wire a pair of tracks using two DPDT. One will allow me to select either a DC power pack or a DCC program. The other DPDT will allow me to select one of two tracks, one is code 55 and the other is Kato track (both N Scale).
My main goal is to test new DC locos on either of the track and then to be able to program DCC locomotives on either track.

Need help with installing O Scale Code 148 Track On A Curve
The usual "tricks" used to install Track on a curve for HO Scale is not working for O Scale 2-Rail track. It is Atlas Code 148 track. Our minimum radius is 36". I know that is tight, however for the equipment we are running it complies with the NMRA Standards and RP's.
The issue we are having is on our turnback curves, were there is a joint, it kinks. We have tried using larger rail joinners, soldering the rails to make a longer piece of track, nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?

Question about a computer for programming locomotives...........
I have an "extra" notebook computer I want to use exclusively for programming locomotives using JMRI/Spog II and Q Industries programmers. I was playing around with it the other day and it is sooooooo slow!
My question is this: Will removing programs I will not use on this computer (I have 2 others) speed it up? Is there a process to do this, such as remove the unwanted programs then do some kind of "refresh" to "re-align" everything to help speed it up?
You can tell from my terminology I am no computer geek.
Spacing tool for parallel mainlines?
I'm curious what folks use to maintain consistent spacing between parallel mainlines - tool, eyeball, straightedge or ???
Thanks.
Apparent loss of signal
Have an aged [probably 10 years old] Digitrax DB150 and had just started a running session when locos stopped. I was using my UT4 throttle. Relative light indicators were lit on the DB150 and green light lit on throttle when I dialled up the loco. No response from loco. I was running an analogue loco on "OO". The loco was " humming" which indicated to me that power was in the track.Any suggestions please? Thanks - Tom

Drawing your circuitry?
Anyone seen this video yet?

This is what the French translates into: Scribe circuit is a ballpoint pen that can create electrical circuits very easily with a conductive ink made of silver. No pressure required, no mush, no smell, no waiting for the ink to dry, this pen can be used both by teachers, artists and children. The imagined by Brett Walker and Analisa Russo project was funded by Kickstarter and largely received funding for its development and commercialization.
