Track and electrical/DCC
How do I wire this?
Attached is an extension diagram from my existing layout. I've basically added a "Y." I'm using Peco turnouts and an NCE DCC system. I have a Digitrax PM42 board and am only using one of the four sections. My questions are: 1) where do I need to cut the rails, 2) how do I connect to the PM42, and 3) how can I switch the programming track between Decoder Pro and normal DCC operation?
Thanks!
Terminal Block Q from newbie....
Hi All,
I'm looking at taking my SoundTraxx PTB100 and putting it in a plastic case mounted to 1x6 that has a test/programming track mounted on it...
I was looking for a Terminal Block similar to what's on my ZephyrExtra to put on the outside of the case for easy removal of the wires to the Zephyr since this is a mobile test track..
When I look for these type of blocks, I either see one that mount/soldered on a board, or they are "pluggable", but I don't see anything that they plug into...

What version of Linux for JMRI?
Just a quick question. Those of you that use Linux, what version do you find works best? I have an older laptop that had a corrupted Windows 7 OS so Flattened the computer and started fresh with the sole purpose of running JMRI with it using the latest JMRI test release 3.9.5 (MRC support). I have an older desktop now running the layout using Windows XP. The USB interface for MRC needs drivers to operate and those are windows based. Is there a version of Linux that can use and or modify/emulate windows drivers to operate in Linux format?
Size of Power Districts
I'm building a new N-scale layout and I'm new to DCC. I'm ready to start wiring, and I'm trying to plan the number of power districts and breakers that I'll need. How "big" should a power district be? That is, can the size of a power district be defined by the number of turnouts in the district that may cause a short, or the length of track in a district, or any other parameter? Any advice would be helpful.
Specific help with MTH HO loco - DCC Ready
I have a question regarding MTH DCC Ready locomotives. I have just tried 4 locos recently purchased. Two have one polarity and the other two are opposite. I've searched the web and found polarity switches for large-scale, but these locos are HO scale. Anyone have some suggestions? Has anyone seen this problem? I am running DC and would like to be able to run more than one loco at a time.
Thanks in advance,

Wire - save it? toss it?
I'm down to the last part of deconstruction, pulling out the old wiring - 14 gauge, stranded, color coded. Toss it or save it for reuse?

Kato unitrack feeders
Intend to install track feeders. Using DCC and would appreciate any comments on any thing I should look out for or be wary of during installation. Thanks. Tom
Detect DCC decoder in an engine
I thought I remember seeing an advertisement for a product that automatically detected the DCC decoder installed in an engine. Can anyone help identify a product (or products) that do this? Thanks.

Micro Engineering turnouts
I'm just about ready to start laying track on my new H0n3-layout, and I've chosen to use Micro Engineering turnouts. My initial plan was to use Bullfrog turnout controls, but I think the control rod is a little bit flimsy, and I also need to cut a lot of holes to recess these into the fascia, resulting in a "messy" look. Would it be possible at all to use these turnouts manually like they are right out of the box? Or would that result in bad electrical connections after a while (like on Peco turnouts)?

Caulk coming through ties and getting on rails - HELP HOW DOES ONE REMOVE THE CAULK!
Here is the good news, track laying has begun. Now the bad news. Apparently I am applying too much caulk (based on the fear of not having enough caulk) and it is squeezing through the rails, and I thought I removed all the caulk from the rails, but I now see there is some still on them. Is there any solution on removing the caulk from the ties without removing the track?
