Track and electrical/DCC
Unitrack and DCC
Laying Kato Unitrack N and use DCC. Intend to use the Kato track feeder section. What is the recommended distance apart should they be - will be laying about 100ft in an oval type. Thanks

A different DCC uncoupler idea
I have an idea for a DCC uncoupler which I think would be a lot simpler than anything else out there, provided that it works. I don't have the time or inclination to work on it, so I'm posting it here for anyone else to take it and run.

DCC uncoupling
Here's a guy that developed TT scale boxcars that uncouple via DCC control.
The poster has "embed" code turned off or I would have embedded the video.

Downloading loco sounds from Loksound site
Can you download loco sounds from Loksound just to hear what they sound like on a Windows PC? Or do you need their programmer or software?
Isolating DC-71 Type Motors
I have 2 steam engines that I just revived from 4 junkers, that I want to convert to DCC. The question is how to isolate the DC-71 style motor.
Do I use
1. Nylon screws to secure the motor to the frame and further insulate between the motor and frame with electrical or kapton tape, or
2. Would just insulating the brush holder from the retaining spring on top of the motor work. Exactly as the brush on the opposite side of the motor, or
3. A combination of the two?
Am I over simplifying this or have I missed something?

Printed Circuit Board turnout
Since TT scale is the "orphan scale" out there getting North American type track is next to impossible. You basically have to scratcbuild almost everything. The guys on the TTnut forum were discussing which number turnout they would like to have manufactured. This got me to thinking. Since it's pretty expensive to have a injection mold produced for tracks why not start with something from way back when.
Anybody recognize these oldies?
Sudden cogging problem with my MRC 1955 decoder -- hmm
Doggone MRC 1955 decoder went wonky last night. Lost all CVs. After I reset everything, now the motor cogs at low RPM and then stalls between speed steps 7 and 21 (128).
I would be grateful for some fresh insight, as no attempts at further resets have solved either issue.
Thanks much,
Paul Schmidt
DCC Decoder or not
I picked up a Genesis USRA 282 light mikado and it had what I assume is a decoder in the box. The number on it is HND SL1 02/02. With the decoder installed the unit runs on dc, but I can't get it to do anything on DCC. First off, can anyone tell me if, in fact, I have a decoder and who is the manufacturer? I have tried to change the speed steps and change the address and nothing works. I am new to DCC.

Resistors
Hi,
If you have a 12.5 volt source......and you put in a 1K ohm resistor.......shouldn`t the voltage drop below 12.5 volts?
TCS T1 or D13SRJ ???
I'm finally jumping into DCC.
So, T1 or D13SRJ?
I need at the very least head light and mars light ability (I model D&RGW), so can the second function (reverse light) of the T1 mimic mars lights? The D13SRJ's can, but the TCS site isn't very informative.
Or is the advantage of auto BEMF on the T1's worth the lack of functions (assuming I'm aiming for the basic decoder here)?
