Reverted Loop Staging

All,

I'm in the planning stages of a new basement layout and I was wondering if anyone was using a Reverted Loop to serve open staging as described by John Armstrong?

Multiple searches don't turn up anything other than theory.

I'm leaning toward something similar to Paul Dolkos's new Baltimore Harbor District layout which he is using open staging in his utility area.

If so any advantages or disadvantages to a Reverted Loop?

Thanks,

Lou

Using Walthers Crossing signals on double track

I have the walthers crossing signals and controller. Looking at the drawings it states it will control 4 signals but does not show how to wire for a double crossing. If I added 4 more photo sensors and wired them the same as the first 4  would this work ?

Wiring Walthers LED Traffic Signals with DPDT - Need Some Help

Greetings,

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about how I am wanting to have a grade crossing protected by traffic signals that the crew can switch to either let the railroad or the auto traffic have control of the crossing.  Here is a link to that thread:

Power distribution board self adapt distributor LED street light hub sold by WeHonest on eBay

Hi has anyone heard of this product and tried it out? How satisfied are you with it? How does it compare to Woodland Scenics Light Hub in terms of cost/efficiency? Thanks.

Making turnout pads with cork

I was looking at cork roadbed for my layout and I have seen numerous videos on how to use the 3ft sections to make your turnout pads using cork.  When looking online I noticed that they make the cork already premade for different types of turnouts and just wondering if most make there own or use the commercially made ones.

I know there probably would be a debate on whether to use one or the other, but curious how others are doing that.

Help removing weathering from ME code 70 track?

HI, I recently laid some ME weathered code 70 track. I was wondering what people used to clean off the weathering from the tops of the rail without scratching it?

Thanks,

Martin

ESU ECoS 50210 DCC System

Good evening folks,

I am wondering if anyone has or has used a ESU Lok Sound ECoS unit to control their trains.  I am wondering if you like it, your thoughts, or if anyone has one, and their impressions of it

Code 40 for HOn3?

I have been building some HOn3 equipment lately and want to build a chainsaw layout to test and display my models. FastTracks has ME Code 40 (about 40# rail) and today I noticed some Railcraft Code 40 listed. I like the look of the smaller rail over code 70 but 55 (equiv to 75#-80# rail) looks much more durable.

My prototype is the OR&L in the 1920's. C-19's, K-27's and 24' boxcars predominantly.

Does anybody have experience with laying rail this small?

Will it conflict with flanges?

A question about SMD's including the tiny "NANO" type.........

............Insomuch as they are quite bright and not encased in a plastic dome, I'm curious if they produce any heat that might be worrisome to plastic/wood/paper enclosures?

Thanks,

Peter

Wiring for Ditch Lights at Both Ends

I'm trying to modify an Athearn BB SW1500 to look like one of the Terminal Railroad Association's switchers. The real prototype had ditch lights at both ends. I've got the 0603 SMD's and housings for them, but my main question is how do they get wired to a decoder? Most manuals assume you only have the front/rear headlight, and front ditch lights.

If it helps, the decoder I'm planning to use is a TCS WowSound Diesel with Keep Alive.

Thanks!
