Track and electrical/DCC

Help needed. Digitrax Zephyr problem.
Hi everyone
My brother in law has been using Digitrax Zephyr but recently encounter a problem. He contacted the company but still having the problem.
If you have any idea or suggestions or simply where he can find more help, please met me know.
This is what he wrote to Digitrax.
Hello,
All Metal Cars and Short Circuits
I am getting back into the hobby after 40 years away. I am currently running DC because I have no motive power that is DCC compatible but plan on converting as soon as the budget will allow. I am working to get my old rolling stock back in operating condition and among the survivors from that era are three Ulrich all metal cars: a gondola, a flat and a hopper. I have noticed that when any of these three cars derail they cause a short. Are all metal cars really compatible with DCC?
Squaring ends of Peco flex-track
After a bit of bending some Peco HO code 83 flex-track to see how it will fit on the layout, the ends no longer line up wih each other. I tried moving one of the rails but couldn't, nor could I move the other rail. Is there a trick here I'm missing out on?
Can an Arduino DCC controller control multiple addresses simultneously?
I would like to create a small diorama, a la shelf layout, whereupon multiple trollies operate. I want operation to be 100% automatic, and figured between track sensors and DCC control, this is very do-able.

LokSound Select reprogramming
I am about to go both feet into ESU decoders. I can get my hands on some Select decoders at a very good price. However, they are preprogrammed with a diesel sound file that I don't want. I want to program it for the Full Throttle steam package. I am also buying a Lok Programmer. Can I reprogram the decoder to the FT Steam? Is there a way to wipe out what's there and start over?

DCC double-ended consisting
One of the things I really like to do with my diesel-era DCC layout is make my diesel lashups into double-ended consists. I'll start out with what it is, and then maybe later on we'll talk about how to set it up on the various systems.
The idea is simple - I like to make my diesel lashups so the end you dial up is the front. For instance, if I have a lashup of three SD9's (the arrow > represents the direction the cab is facing) ...

Need help IDing old sound decoder
I bought, several years ago, a handful of old sound decoders that never made it into any engines. I'm thinking they were 1st gen Athearn Genesis "F" unit sound decoders but I'm not sure. Over the years and a couple of moves, I have managed to lose the wiring diagram. I am asking for anyone to identify these decoders (and confirm my thoughts) and help me with the wiring.
Digitrax DB150 or DCS51 as booster?
I have an HO scale layout running Digitrax DCC. It's a fair size layout with 10 hidden staging tracks underneath.
I own both a DB150 (5 amps) command station and a Zephyr Extra DCS 51 command station (3 amps). I'm not sure which one to make the main command station and which to make a booster?
In addition I have two PM42 breakout boards that will allow me to subdivide the layout into 8 power districts for short circuit management (staging, yard, engine terminal, main line, paper mill yard etc)
TCS decoders
I just spoke with TCS support and got an immediate resolution to a question I could not find in their documentation. I use their WOW steam systems and nave been extremely satisfied, so suggested they work a little more with MRH to produce videos like we see with ESU. I keep finding new features on my decoders by accident, and could benefit from (and perhaps many could) run-throughs of the many features of their decoders.
Android Engine Driver Throttle + RR-Cirkits USB + JMRI = Fantastic
Last week I finally got around to hooking up the RR-Cirkits Locobuffer USB to my layout's Digitrax loconet and installing the JMRI software on my Windows 7 PC. After getting the JMRI and LocoBuffer working (it was easy once I got the correct Windows drivers installed) I installed the Engine Driver app for my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S3). The Engine Driver android app requires the JMRI 'WiThrottle' s
