Watching Paint Dry
Scenic work is underway on Clive section of my IAIS Grimes Line layout. One of the first steps is to paint and detail the track. My process works well for the size of my layout but requires a few steps.
Gatorfoam and Model Railroading
My latest project with Gatorfoam® was to build a 21” wide by 8 foot long extension L to my N Scale Mooers Junction Railroad. I have put together an article showing the construction techniques I used.
This post is just the latest advantage I wanted to put out there about the benefits of using lightweight Gatorfoam®. My friend Jeff and I spent about six hours adding eight (8) tortoise machines, five (5) homemade turnout direction indicators and a switch controlling the USB camera that show hidden staging.

The first picture is the scene at Acme Latex Co. involving the building on the side that is behind and further away. This picture does not have tree painted in.

This was written and pictures taken by a friend.
It has been a while since I have sent a photo e-mail – time seems to pass quickly for me…which is a good thing! I have posted a number of images, but have not had time to send out any messages so feel free to peruse my most recent albums….
On with this story: Below are links to a few images taken at BNSF Hobson Yard in Lincoln, NE this month.
Working on the track layout for the new board
I have been thinking about what I want from the new main board for my railroad. I have been working on, as you would say in the USA - or at least John Armstrong used to say - my givens and druthers. These come out as follows:
1st Homemade Pine Tree
Using balsa wood and caspia, this is my first attempt at making a pine tree. Seems a bit fat, but this should improve as more are made. (Thomas thinks it is a good start)
