BILL SCOBIE'S RGS: SWITCHING PLACERVILLE
Bill Scobie takes the lead locomotive while Pierre Lamontagne operates the helper on the freight from Ridgeway to Rico. The switching operations in Placerville are interesting as the two Sn3 steam locomotives operate both ends of the yard. Interesting moves were made to situate the lifts in the proper part of the train. There are facing and trailing moves for drop offs at industries and local moves as well. The long freight had to clear the main for passenger train traffic. Always a joy to see Bill's Sn3 Rio Grande Southern put through its paces.
Why Masonite
Why is Masonite used for the backdrop? I purchased a few sheets and installed a couple around my peninsulas but I'm thinking that it is a mistake. It would seem to me that sheetrock will work just as well and I can hide the seams easier/better using joint compound. Just looking for some input before I go and screw it all up.
Thanks,

A Prototype Question
To All: Does anyone out there know which railroad had the slogan, "The North West Route"? Their herald was a circle with the slogan inside the circle with an arrow in the circle going from lower right to upper left. This was an early rail company. Thanks, Elvin Howland/E. The SNE is back up in the new apartment
Well here it is in its new home. I have added some painted back scene for two reasons.
1. It looks better and
2. It stops me marking the walls when I do the scenery.
The back scene is not brilliant - I am no artist, but it gives a bit of a feeling of an overcast day, I hope - grin.
The small board on the left of the layout is portable. It has some dowels for location and would normally have a clamp to tighten it to the main board. It is purely a staging area. I will probably give it some minimal scenicking so it doesn't look too out of place.
Iron Mountain, MI
The town of Iron Mountain, MI on my HO scale CNW - Peninsula Div. layout. I still have a lot of detail work left to do before it is complete.
