Whew! - that was FUN!

We had a great time (well, I did - the rest will have to chime in here).  Folks that brought modules - Mark, Bert, Eric, Adam and myself - Doug came without, :) plus we had two more folks come by to see just what it was all
about (I am sooo bad with names!) I think it was Brian and Allen.

I got there early at 9:00 to open the room and set up a couple tables and chairs, measure and lay out the space for the Meet-N-March.  The PUD community room is 43' x 34', just in case you're curious.

Virginia Southern adds two home made HO track cleaning cars.

I finished up two home made track cleaning cars. The design is simple, a 1x2 for the frame, added trucks and couplers, then a cork cleaning pad glued onto a old car weight. The pad slides across the rails, giving them a good wipe. The pad is held in place by two nails, glued to the top of the weight. I added three nuts to give the car more weight.

I used three of these cars. I push one ahead of a loco, then a second car with Liquid Wrench on the pad, then a third car trailing with a dry cork pad. Works great and keeps things running fine.

I have taken the swinging gate out of the door way and replaced it with a twin bridge water crossing of the fox river and a new siding going to the cement plant

First video of the MRC 1913 Sound decoder.

Hey everybody, finally got some video of the sounds of the new MRC 1913 sound decoder.  It's mostly a still video right now but does go through some of the basic sounds of the decoder.  This first vid is about the 6 prime mover sounds.  Sorry if the picture is a bit fuzzy but I put the camera up pretty close to capture as much sound as possible.  Will work on better videos in the near future so for now just bear with me as I get accustomed to shooting videos.

Painting a Backdrop

I spent the past week painting a backdrop for my model railroad. I was nervous going into the project, but the process was pretty simple and straight-forward and I could not be happier with the results.

Expertise Wanted

After several attempts to "reorganize" my thoughts with suggestions from my last posting, I have come to the realization that efficient and innovative layout design is not my true forte. I am looking for someone who can incorporate the two designs I like best into a practical and efficient layout for reasonable compensation.
