Resin Cast On30 Log Buggies
It looks like the On30 modelers are generating some steam here. So in the spirit of scratch building something other than a "critter" which seems to be boring some people I thought I'd do a rolling stock scratch build.
This blog is based on a three part article that Dallas Mallerich III wrote about in the April, May & June 2001 Model Railroad Craftsman, "The Basics of Resin Castings". Wow, 12 years ago. No 3D home printer available then.
Some news of the Garve and Ullapool Railway
Hello,
it's been a while since my last post.
Ullapool is now installed in my railway room, and fully functional. During spring and summer I held two operating session. And another will follow in about three weeks. The layout is constructed along the walls of the room and at the moment the fiddle yard reaches in the room. For the future I plan to include a junction station so I've got a possibility for my trains to pass and meet on the line.
Here a few pictures from the layout.
Bradford Valley Lumber Company #8 - A Scratchbuilt Logging 2-6-6-2T
Hi all,
This is my first blog post here, so I'll say a bit about me and my railroad, first. My name's Daniel, and I'm a keen model railroader living in Queensland, Australia. I've modelled in N, HOn3 and HO, before finally settling on On30 as the scale for me. I'm modeling a freelanced logging railroad, the Bradford Valley Lumber Co. in On30. It's set in the Pacific Northwest United States, during the 1940s and 1950s.
Question re: wall preparation
Could somebody point me please to the discussion on
radiusing wall corners? My memory being what it is,
I can't remember where I last saw it....
Thanks,
Dan
Dover Subroadbed and divider Progress
Finally started on the Dover/Madison area, specifically the subroadbed for Dover and the vertical divider between Dover and Madison that will also serve as the center support for Gilman VT on the upper level later.
Photos and step-by-step descriptions of today's work will be in the next post.

Richlawn RR V2 - Where's my soldering iron?
I'm at that important point in my railroad where I can actually start putting down some track! The problem is, I can't locate my soldering iron. I know that I packed it when we moved from Georgia to Florida, but I don't know which of the over 600 (that's right - 600) boxes it is in. Now I was very careful to label all of the boxes as to which were for the railroad; however, I didn't mark in detail the contents in each box. All of these boxes have been sitting on my selves in my new home garage waiting for me to unpack.
ATSF Paradigm Division (N-scale) - Staging Yards
Now that my wife and I have finished our summer project of rebuilding the shower, I can now refocus my effort back to the new layout.
The first picture shows a partial view down the peninsula of both staging yards (A & B). The scale drawing that was shown in the previous blog post documents (as close as possible) what was built since I obtained the Railmodeller software after the track was put down.
Pembroke II - First Operating Session
What, wait did I skip a few posts?
Yesterday, my daughter was sick, and I had to stay home to look after her. She wanted to get out the Brio trains and have a good proper play, which is exactly what we did -- for about four and a half hours! Now, ordinarily, I get bored after about an hour of playing horsie show (the trains were taking horses and their trappings to the show), but this time, I built a Brio track of Pembroke, including staging.
