Chroma Key or Green Screen photo's of Layout etc.

Has anyone played around with Green Screen/Chroma Key for the back drop of your layout or to show off a car or locomotive in a setting?   If you have what programs or software have you used?  It would be interesting to make for-ground scenery, your model locomotive/car, and then add the background to make a photo in a real setting.

Progress on the new "Black and Blue"

After a bit of planning with SCARM plus some kicking around of ideas with members here  in my blog and a bit of fairly simple bench work  construction, I now have some progress to show on the "Blackwater and Blue Hollow Short Line" or as it's affectionately known around these parts... "The Old Black n Blue"

Phew... Fooled myself. Thought I had a short...

So I haven't had as much time to finish wiring the staging the past week as I anticipated.  But I had a little time this morning so I was able to finish soldering about half the remaining staging feeders to the track and to the bus.  I did some of it, checking for continuity with each feeder. All good.  About half way through what I did today, I also checked for shorts. Still good.   Hooked up the power to the bus and tested the track with an engine.  Working great. Removed the engine and went back to soldering.

Scale Model Animation 7 – Just for Fun! Smallest Scale Model Animation Ever?

Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! This entry demonstrates the use of a different type of LED lighting that most people likely have not considered. It also may be the smallest scale model animation ever?

Cleaning / Lubing Tyco Clementine Steam Loco

I have an old Tyco Steam Loco - Clementine - that I'd like to clean and Lube after 20 years of being in a box.  What products should I use to clean and lub it?  It barely runs due to dirt on the wheels and I'm sure it needs cleaned and lubed.   thanks...

Condo/Loft with a model railroad

In my first post I talked about moving to a smaller space, a condo in Toronto with my girlfriend and how I could accommodate my passion that is my model railroad, the Ontario South Central. Well, we found a lovely place. Its an open concept loft style condo. We fell in love with our brand new living arrangement instantly. The main living room, dining and open concept kitchen is a good size for the price in Toronto at 20' x 12'. After signing off on the place I was thinking, how would I instill my passion for model railroading in this place?

Pembroke: A Young Helper

Soldering is child's play

I worked from home today (it was our annual pretend earthquake), and so, we finished homework long before bed time. "Would you like to play on the iPad or come and help me do some soldering?" I asked the boy.

"Hmmm..." (weighs the options carefully) "Help with soldering!"

Sn3 Southern Rio Grande Railroad

This is another great model railroad.  In a one car garage.  Hope you enjoy.  If this does not get your juices flowing nothing will.
