Switching Layout - Take Two

About a year ago, I began building a layout. I had decided I wanted a switching layout. I knew we would move out of our apartment eventually, so I decided to build it in sections so that it could move when we eventually did. I drew up some plans and began building. It was an L shaped layout, approximately ten feet by 11 feet.

Shortening a Difco to make two types of Western Side dumps

One of my needs for my mine are some side dump cars that are smaller than the 50 yard Difcos that I have. As previously blogged, I did make a 30 yard ribbed western, and a 20 yard western in 3D printing. However to get a fleet of those would cost a fair penny. My solution, cut up some on sale Difcos to make something close.

1900 models - a Colorado Midland reefer

My most wished model was a CM reefer with the Indian as a logo. (That was in the time 25 years ago, when the Iron Curtain yet existed and we not have the option to buy in East Germany the loved U.S. railroad models.)

But some day I have got with help of friends one of this kits made by La Belle - an assortment of wood strips and a decal set.
