Goose Island Update, Saturday May 28
Well I am glad I decided to stick with the Atlas turnouts instead of tearing everything up and replacing them with Pecos. Just had to add a couple of feeders in the proper place, do a bit more pavement trimming and now everything runs smoothly backwards and forwards.
I also added a lot more weight to the boxcars to really give them some heft and also help them roll through the turnouts much better. Almost ready to move to the next section which does not include any tracks in the street. It does include a bridge, a canal and a major highway crossing. Fun, fun, fun.

Soo Line Solvang Subdivision Freelance Foyer Layout
After spending five years designing a basement layout of the NP's P&L line if MRL had purchased it, only to have to wait until home repairs (the kitchen sink is above the breaker box which is a major code violation) are complete, I couldn't just sit and wait any longer. I want to build a model railroad with my nine year old son and this kitchen project is going to take years to save up for and complete. The only other place I could think of was the dining room but my wife suggested the foyer. What a great spot!

Lyndonville Sub opening for business
With all of the track and electrical work done, I've been running trains just to see where I may have installed a switch that isn't working right, or where I need to add more electrical feeders. At this point it seems all systems are go and so now I'm transitioning to creating the scenery and buildings to populate the layout.

School House
MY LATEST BUILD -
Since my wife is a retired educator, she wanted a school house on the layout. It will be added to the newest town of Watersmeet, MI to be built on my HO scale CNW Peninsula Div. railroad. The building is a kit bash using two DPM kits. The base kit is #106 Laube's Linen Mill. I will admit that it was not my original idea. I found the design article in the Model Railroad special publication "Modeling Railroads of the 1950's". The original building was to be a YMCA residence, but it looked like a good design for a 1950 schoolhouse.
