Rail cars go where?

I have n-scale coal cars that will leave the mine but go where?  What are some industries that would accept coal car for their operations.  Where could I see examples that I could model?  Also what to do with logs from the mill?

The Golden Spike is in

The Golden Spike is in.

After much sweat and some blood and about 5 or 6 years the main line is in end to end. The RR fills about 750 sq. ft.

This is the plan that I have been working with. It is a NKP RR from Frankfort Ind to Kokomo and the Indianapolis Division (IMC) as it comes into Kokomo from the south and crosses the Cloverleaf.

Great Northern Divisions part 2 (Corrections)

As I mentioned last week I found flaws in my blog post of the 6-9th divisions. Those were more modern divisions. What follows are the 1950 Divisions of the Great Northern Railway.

* = Does not appear on Route map.

+ = see: http://gnarchive.com/accidents.html for details and reports. 1947 through 1969 not complete.

Uphill Battle

I was hoping summer was just around the corner up here in Northern Manitoba, but no spring has only just arrived. So I have been slowly working on my GE 70 tonner project and other projects for myself and others.

First the uphill battle. Just when you think you put the stripes on nice and level, the picture you take tells you you didn't. My level mark is visible near the front just below the stripe. I must have shifted it while flattening the front. It is all set so it is what it is.
