Cullet Loads
To All: I made cullet loads (crushed glass) for four Ford hoppers. To make the loads I
used sparkiels from Michaels. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group layout.
A New Beginning, Chapter 4
Almost done with the backdrop but first I had to finish running the bus wire. I had run out of 16 gauge and the hobby shop only had 14 gauge but that's okay. They will work just fine. Bus wire attached.
Blue sky backdrop almost done. All three corners are coved. Screw heads will be painted over.
Alpine Railroad in NJ
I have been building an Alpine scene railroad in DCC and DC over the last few years in Z scale and have been inspired by other great blogs to start my own and record my progress/trials/tribulatons. I have learned so much from other member's comments in other blogs and I am hoping my story will help others and I may be lcky enough to have some of my questions answered my my hurtles overcome.
New siding, new industry
I layed track for a new siding in Brighton Park this week; one of the industries that will be served by this is Curren Candy Company. This structure recently has undergone a rehabilitation. I originally kit-bashed it back in the 90s from an article by the master of kit bashing, the late Art Curren, following his ideas found in his book: Kitbashing HO Model Railroad Structures, Art Curren, Kalmbach Books, 1988.
Here we see the installed structure with an WP box of sugar being spotted by ALCO S-2, 22:
Adventures in HOn2 yes 2 foot "gage"
I have mentioned elsewhere pending attempts to model 2' gauge in a less compromising track gauge.
I recently purchased a Marklin Z scale 2-6-2; in hopes of modeling a 600mm US Army Davenport; the wheelbase is a little short but wheels scale out close to prototype. My goal is to represent one of the "missing" loco's which never deployed "overthere."
Model white water effect / waterfalls
Hi! This week I´m modelling white waters for a waterfall.
Murray River Bridge new layout construction end day 20 to 21
Hi All
The bridge is coming together, Walthers bridge sections have been kit bashed to fit the actual location and the final through truss has been scratch built from 6mm MDF and Tasmanian oak.
Enjoy

How to open the shell on an MTH GP35 HO
A friend of mine had a DCC-Ready MTH GP-35 (HO scale) for a while, and I offered to install a DCC decoder in it since after all it's just a trivial task of inserting a 8-pin decoder in there (no sound needed). I mean, how hard can it be?
