LoSiund ESU 50310 and Digitrax PM42

Has anyone setup a new ESU 50310 with a Digitrax PM42?

Or know if this arrangement works? Or if not is there a power management device that does and does not interfere with its operation and rail cm?

Just got the ESU unit and want to implement but also want to keep the short protection.

Haven't received any confirmation from LokSound so far so hoping someone can chime in.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

1939 Railway Maintenance Cyclopedia Excerpt: Standard Lengths of Rails

A couple of weeks, I posted a topic on Railway Engineering and Maintenance Cyclopedias (http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/32050). I really enjoy the once-contemporary detail contained in these and decided others might as well, so I've transcribed a couple of paragraphs from the chapter on rail.

A new website/blog

I have created a blog where I can track the progress of the Johnstown and Maryville. Check it out if you are interested.

Track Popping Up - Fixes?

As humidity levels go down, wood benchwork shrinks. And sometimes, it shrinks enough to cause track to pop up. Any suggestions on how best to fix this? Unfortunately, the track is on a bridge - and on a slight curve (so cutting in rail gaps will risk introducing lateral kinks in the rail). Maybe just push it back down and secure with contact cement?

Any tips/suggestions/guidance most welcome!

Staging camera help

Starting off the new year getting back on track with my layout. As I work on my staging level for my FWWR layout I've been trying to come up with ideas to handle trains on my hidden staging level. Seeing some YouTube videos of other modelers layouts I seem the use of cameras. Not knowing how this works, could anybody help a guy out.

This layout is in two rooms I could use two separate systems if need be. I'm thinking about 5 locations for cameras in one room and 3 in the other. What do I need to be looking for?

LA, Pasadena & Cucamonga RR, Benchwork Update

Hi all,

After spending the holidays doing benchwork construction all day (well almost :) ), i have reached a point where the benchwork is almost finished. I need to fasten the plywood subroadbed to the risers and then off to laying some track. I have spend a lot of time in making and positioning the risers correctly so that all the pieces align correctly and the slopes are to spec.

The benchwork and legs are all coated with a sealant following good advice from Joe.
