2018 - 1st visitor to the layout if from Canada! I do find this fascinating

I do find this fascinating.  People come to Arizona from all over the US, other Countrys and around the world for Vacation, Holiday, Business, Work etc.  With the multitude of layouts in the valley.

Oak Park & Western Railway

I've started a blog over on Wordpress to document the background information and construction of my HO scale layout. I'll post brief updates on this MRH-hosted blog but the detailed entries will be at: https://opwrailway.wordpress.com

IAIS's West End - Push toward a scenery finale, of sorts - DONE!

With the completion of my final railroad bridge yesterday, I'm now in the home stretch on the layout's basic scenery (i.e. roads, backdrop photos, static grass, SuperTrees, and various foliage).  All that remains is the 4-5' from the Harry Langdon Blvd. overpass scene in the center of the pic below over to the backdrop tree photos on the far right.  This will include:

Polly Scale Milwaukee Road Gray

I'm looking for a replacement for the PollyScale Milwaukee Road Gray and hoping someone out there is MRH land can help. While I understand there are still ways to get the PollyScale color I am looking for a more sustainable, long term solution. I use the Milwaukee Road Gray as the primary color for my railroad lineside structures. It is the closest to the gray the Nickel Plate painted their building.

Thanks in advance for any help!

IAIS's West End - Last bridge complete

I had a goal of completing all my layout's railroad bridges in 2017, and while I technically missed that by a day, I'm going to call it good due to the New Year's holiday.  I was on vacation through January 1, and in my world, it's not officially 2018 until I have to go back to work. laugh

Recycled

Recycled

It's been about 10 months since I made a blog entry, sorry about that. But at 59 I've been doing some serious doctoring, which has kept me away & out of my cave.  Anyway I got to thinking about something that might be known, or could have slipped between the cracks (or the rails & ties).

The Great Northern Railway (GN) seems to have had a penchant for recycling or tinkering around with
their steam locomotives. Or was it a case of looking for the right balance, between weight & power.

2018 HAPPY to start a NEW layout this YEAR

Happy New Year to all. Back in 2017 I was contemplating a large garage with loft for a big layout. After seeing the quote for just the bare bones garage and the adding in all the insulation electrical heating etc, I decided to not go that route. Instead I decided to make a smaller layout in the basement.
