A New Train is Added to the Layout & the Latest 3D Project Has Begun

Structures for the Algoma Central Railway
Modeling a prototype line means most or all of the structures will be either kitbashed or customized. Particularly when you're modeling a smaller and more remote regional railway, so "Canadian Pacific Standard no. 3 Station" doesn't really fit the bill.
My road of choice is the Algoma Central Railway, a Canadian regional railway in northern Ontario. This thread documents structure builds for some of the railway specific structures I'm building for my future ACR layout.

Moving a Model Railroad
Hey gang! I haven't been around for a few years. I've been spending my time in other areas, but I recently bought a giant, finished basement (and a house to go over it) and so it's time to move my little layout to it's new home and start thinking about expanding it!

Putting Lights and Sound in a Genesis MP15AC
Since I like several different prototypes, one of the desires of my Office Park Zone layout is to make it easy to change between different locales. By changing just a few details, I can run trains from CN, CP, BN, a shortline, or anything else.
Ballasting and other fun
Hello all. I recently added some new topics on my blog. I hope if you have time you'll take a look. As always, comments are welcome.
Eastern Pacific and Coastal Railroad
What I am about to describe is how the Eastern Pacific and Coastal Railroad has come into being. First it is a purely fictitious railroad loosely based on the mountain and coastal railroads on the west coast. It got its name when the large scale club I belong to asked for one for my layout when it was involved with our layout tours. But it lacked a story and that thought festered for quite a while. Like for several years in fact.

Racket At Riverdale!
Chicago Yellowstone and Pacific big Baldwin center-cab DT 6-6-2000 #58 departs Riverdale north on the Riverdale Sub to Brighton Park.
Kitbashed in 1995 from Stewart AS-616 bodies on a scratched frame with Mashima motor and A-Line flywheels, #58 recently received a Loksound Select Micro sound decoder and TDS sugarcube speakers.
I started building the station building and platform
Hello,
during the last weeks I added some additional storage space above my fiddle yard, and installed lights above the fiddle and Lochdubh.
I also started with the construction of the station building which is based on Mallaig Station, and the platform. I built these from styrene strips of different sizes.

Michael Paul Smith interview
This week I started planning a trip to Springfield where I was talking to a few friends. One friend Michael Paul Smith shared an interview we did on his famous Flickr page, which was mighty kind. However, it is nice to find the comments below. This is why we share.
Michael notes,
If you have the inclination and the time, here is an interview, by way of the internet, that I did with Ron Pare ; an HO Model Builder/Maker from Canada.
[ it took place last march 2017]

Milan branch blog going forward
For those who might be interested, I’ve set up a personal group on Facebook, www.facebook.com/groups/milanbranch, to journal about progress on my small Iowa Interstate branch line – the Milan branch.
