3D Printed Light Fixtures
In my last Layout Update I mentioned some 3D printed light fixtures that I have been working on. Here are some pictures of them as they came from Shapeways to adding Micro LEDs. With the Just Play system from Woodland Scenics you can easily dim them to the desired brightness and not have to worry about resisters. With my layout being an industrial complex I will be adding a lot of security and work lights. I will post the links below to the Shapeways files.

Johnstown takes shape
Finally got the track work done and trains running again. Now I have a rough draft of how Johnstown is going to fit into the corner. Overall I like the way it looks but obviously this is just an approximation.
Cheakamus Canyon BCR- BC Rail British Columbia exhibition layout construction
Awhile ago, in discussion with a couple of mates.
We had discussed building a layout based on BCR - BC Rail, I stated that I would contemplate it if a Plastic C40-8M was available HO scale.
As luck would have it, a model did become available from Rapido trains https://www.rapidotrains.com/ho-dash-8-40cm/
Which meant that I needed to follow through and build a BCR layout.
After further discussion, we settled on an Exhibition layout based on Cheakamus Canyon.
This location is quite spectacular and required very deep scenery to do the location justice.
I came up with a design which would fit into my trailer, this consisted of:
two boards, 5'10' long, 4' high and 500mm wide.
One board of 1400mm long 4' high and 500mm wide.
thus a total display length of about 16' 2"
the boards are build with a 7mm ply base, 12mm ply sides, with 42mm X 19mm framing and 3mm MDF cleats.
This means that the boards includes, a pelmet with lighting to be attached behind.
The display boards are to be mated to the staging - fiddle yard of one of my other layouts "Murray River Bridge".
There are three bridges on the layout and they were built by Dave from Micro Engineering and Walthers kits.
Here is a video of construction day 1

Current Los Angeles Junction Ry Plan
Here's the plan for my first LAJ layout. The switching part on the left is a combination of several LAJ Switch Leads. This will give me the maximum amount of switching & a variety of freight car types. The bridge is across the hallway between living room & bedroom. it will be a plate girder type so not like the one shown. May need to have a multilevel staging yard given the number of cars in my collection.
ESU Cab Control Discussion
Having recently received my new ESU Cab Control and Mobile Control II throttle, I thought it might be useful to start a Blog and share experiences. I have deliberately made this a blog rather than a topic but invite anyone who has an interest in this subject to add to the discussion.
To ease the typing I would like to introduce some abbreviations:
CC = Cab control (The ICU or command station)
MC 2 = Mobile Control II ( The Android based handheld Throttle)
