Speed Matching for DCC engines - Arduino Speedometer

Hi guys,

now that several of my engines are finally converted to DCC, I want to try the consisting. Step one should be having all engines of one type with the same behaviour at the throttle and capped at their prototypical max. speed. In order to achieve this, I needed a speedometer.

After trying several webpages on this matter, I finally came across this one:

Now It's Getting Fun!

I'm taking a page from Marty McGuirk's playbook and painting the lower half of my walls the same color that my fascia will be on my layout.  I think this will look pretty clean and should frame my shelf-style layout nicely. Deciding on a color has been a tricky (yet fun) process. I think I've decided I want to go with a darker color that will compliment the scenery (which will be very similar in color to that of my old layout) but do I go with a green or a brown color? Perhaps something more neutral?

Random Action at the Carquinez MRR Winter Open House 2018

This is a collection of footage from the Winter open house. Today's video has a diverse number of trains and footage that were on display that day. Thanks for watching!

Proto2000 GP Tune Up and DCC Installation

I’ve been impressed with the value of the Proto2000 (P2K) GP-7/9/18/20 series since they began coming out in the late 1990’s.  For between $40-70, you can get a great running diesel locomotive with just a little bit of elbow grease.  I recently looked on eBay and found over 40 GP9s for sale, and even more GP7s.  These are readily available at train shows as well.

Lighting Caboose

Hello Everybody

Today I want to share my experience with this NdeM Caboose. It is from Athearn special editions but I make some modifications: Kadee  couplers, windows, leds lights and some weathering.

A day at the 2019 Bridgetown RPM

Despite the snow Friday night and the really ugly roads Saturday morning in the Portland, Oregon area, the 2019 Bridgetown RPM went off as scheduled today at the Airport Shilo Inn hotel - and frankly, if this is what it looks like after attendance is cut due to bad weather, I'm a little scared what it might have been like if the weather had been good - every table in the room was full and they had to bring in an extra one after it started.

Operating Session Information

I recently started operating some new layouts.  I was overwhelmed when the builders started describing the sub-section of the railroad they modeled.  In my cases, the New Haven RR in New Haven and the Denver, Rio Grande & Western between Durango and Antonito.
