Modelling water effect easy & low cost

Here's the video, which gives you a detailed guide how to model water effect from pulp:

J&M comes into its own

I have been trying to decide which way to go with the J&M and its motive power. Do I leave them as they are, Milwaukee Road? Do i have them repainted as a shortline, such as Michigan Shore? Beautiful red and silver? Or do I make it its own shortline?

Cornhill and Atherton - Cornhill Town

This will be the last scenery project on the C&A, but definitely not the last blog, because there is much to do once I have "finished" the railroad.

Benchwork for the last "visible" portion of the railroad and now a revision

Well, I made it to the end... of the room. The picture below shows the benchwork and early start to what will be the last visible portion of my little line. There will be  some limited staging located in the closet and the board with the level on it is just set in place in order to establish where the hole needs to be punched through the backdrop and the wall behind it. This area is where the coal mine is to be located. I have the necessary flex and turnouts for it and the actual trackplan itself will be worked out "on the fly".

IAIS's West End - God loves a culvert

There's a long-running quote among railroad engineering departments:

"The basic rules of bridge building are:

  1. Never build a bridge when a trestle will do,
  2. Never build a trestle when a fill will do, and
  3. God loves a culvert."

Unfortunately, even a culvert can't be accurately modeled when you don't even know it's there...which gives you a clue as to the quandary that I'm now attempting to address.

Taking lighting to the next step

Finally they did arrive. New LEDs for lighting where I require very small outlines.

On the picture you see an SMD LED 0402 next to a figure in N-scale. And yes, it is the tiny dot in front of the toothpick. I didnt yet install one as the weekend was clogged with other activities, but once I do, I will keep you posted.

Best regards

Mark
