Improving electrical pickup!

Photo tutorial of improving the electrical pickup on the newer Genesis locomotives from Athearn.  Also works for P2K, Atlas, Kato and others with this system.

I have been doing this for years now and it really helps improve the performance.

Middleton Station

Started building the Middleton Station, kit offered by Railroad Kits.  We first did a AI wash on the walls followed up with sponging on the green dpaint

Then on to the window!

The scrapyard coming together

Power But NO Movement

Need some advice on what and how to check an engine that was running but now is not. I have a DCC Atlas S-4 on my layout which shows power (light is on) but no movement and no reaction to throttle input including trying to shut the light off.

Engine was running fine several weeks ago but has been sitting for 2 weeks. Tried using a different throttle; no results. Tried moving the engine to a known straight track with power for other engines - no response. Tried cleaning wheels and checking pickups - no response.

Construction underway

It has been 10 days since I last posted to the blog and begun construction on my new layout. I have managed to put together the two parts of the previous layout and add the first section of the new. As you can see from the photos the first horse shoe section is complete as far as bench work and some of the track goes. Due to the width of the section that holds the turntable and round house I wanted to complete everything that would be difficult to reach once it was moved against the wall.
