The Image I use with my posts and why I model railroads

This photo was taken January 15, 1950 (so it says on the back) at the miniature railroad in Los Angeles Griffith Park.  Railroads in miniature have been a part of my life as long as I can remember.

Mixing tracks

I have been collecting Model trains for about 32 years , both new and used pieces.  Always planned that one day we would start a garden I am working with O , HO and N.. We finally decided this would be a year..We are starting by building a 16X24 ft structure, our plan is to build  several 4X8 tables . Most of the will be HO then one N and then O Gauge .

Automating Model Railway Layouts with Arduino Microcontrollers

I developed a recent interest in model railroading since a year ago. Bought some tracks and trains and got them running. Since I didn't have much space, I went for N scale Kato Unitrack to make my temporary layouts. Since I also had a casual interest in microcontrollers, especially the Arduino microcontrollers(since they were low-cost and open-source), I went ahead to automate a model railroad layout.

CNJ joins the operating roster...

Since researching the layout further I decided that I wanted to operate the Central Railroad Company of New Jersey (CNJ).

Nce Question

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a NCE power cab DCC starter system, and like it very much. I'm starting to program up some engines, the system reference manual is good, but is there an any other programming guides out there? I'm going to ask the my operating group if anyone uses  the NCE system, have not come across one yet. I'm not the most tech savvy person I know!!

Best, Scott

Modern Southern Pacific PFE Mixed at Carquinez MRR Open House

Today we have a little Southern Pacific modern era mixed refer train for your viewing pleasure.

The next video post will be a blast from the past as today I posted a video on Youtube of the erection of a pedestrian over crossing at the Martinez Amtrak station. That video will not be posted here but if you are interested, here is the link to that video.

The Layouts at the Railroad Hobby Show

Update: someone asked that I explain where the Railroad Hobby Show is. Indeed, up until a few years ago, I had no idea what people were talking about when they mentioned "the Springfield show."

The Railroad Hobby Show is put on by the Amherst Railway Society at the Eastern States Exposition Center (Big E) in West Springfield, Massachusetts in late January or early February. Thus it is known as "The Railroad Hobby Show," "The Big E show," "The Amherst Show," or "The Springfield Show."

End update.
