Wire Resources/Advice

Getting ready to wire the initial portion of my new layout and need to be pointed to a supplier. Thinking 16 ga bus solid copper in red and black (approx 100 ft ea) and 20 or 22 ga for drops from the rail (again solid core?) in red and black.

Gas or Oil Lighting

So I'd been on and off working on lighting on my layout, using mainly LEDs. But I wanted an effect of an era that was just moving from gas or oil lighting into electric. Around last Christmas the wife had some of those little battery operated tea lights set up as decoration. I was watching one flicker and thought this could be a possible solution.

How strong is your layout?

I was looking at the date of my last post and it's been well over a year ago, Wow.

So anyway on to my subject. Last year around the October time frame we had some bad weather come through with high winds. The storm snapped an old growth pine tree at a point about 7 feet above the ground and planted it right across our house. Praise God nobody was hurt or killed.

Retirement of a train driver

Good morning all,

Today I present to you a video of a French tradition. When SNCF train drivers retire and drive their last train, this is how they are received at the station.

Mitchell’s Barbeque Opens

Well, almost. More scenery and installation on the layout await, but hogs are in the grill, which is scratch built and lit with two 3mm flickering candle LEDs. I need cook figures and a chopping/pulling block. A few of these photos are bench progress photos to support an NMRA contest entry.

Painting track

I am at the stage where I want to paint my track but need some pointers please.

I have seen other who have used a rattle can of cammo paint but not sure what color is best.

Second concern is, how do you protect turn outs so they do not get "glued" by the paint?

Third question, how do you wipe down the tops of the rails after spraying to ensure connectivity?

Thanks all!!!
