Superb Soundtraxx service

Leaving both headlights on for switching is prototypical.  Engineers don't turn headligts on and off with each change of directions.  Soundtraxx customer service answered  my email on this topic within an hour !

George Bogatiuk described exactly what to do clearly and briefly.  Part of the instructions were to set both CV 57 and 58 to 255 to enable all the lights in both directions.  Simple ! There's also a four minute video demysitifying indexed CV's.

My stay-at-home project

This blog entry was submitted to the 'Aus Freizeit wird Freuzeit – Deine Hobbies 2020' initiative of the modell-hobby-spiel fair, which had to be cancelled this year because of COVID-19.

Control Your Model Railroad with a Slide of Your Finger!

A while back, I came across this video on YouTube:

Then it hit me. Why not use the same thing to control other stuff?!

Mix for Craft Paints

Does anybody on this site use off the shelf crafts to paint their structures? I would like to start using them since Poly Scale is no longer made. I don't want to paint a whole structure by hand, so I want to know what would be a good way to reduce them for air brushing. What would be the specific mix formula?

Thanks

Richard

Surviving the Virus of 2020

Well I've seem to have survived the Pandemic of 2020. With that I decided to start to build the peninsula, here's some pictures.

The start:

Bench work going in

Roadbed going in:

And the winner is.......

After much discussion, and input from many, I have decided that I am going to build layout #3. Thats the one that was inspired by Lance Mindheims Downtown Spur. I like the fact that although it is a round the room layout, its not just a large oval.  I also like the fact that its simple to build. No complex elevations or complex trackwork.

The overall overhead view.

The path to success is littered with failures

We always see people's successes on their blogs and in their photos, but we generally don't see the stuff that didn't work or that failed along that path to success.   I had one of those failures last night, and it was entirely my own fault.

Realistic Static Grass

Here is a video I recently put together describing my technique for realistic static grass on the Cascade Sub. I wrote about the initial development of this in an earlier post on this blog, but have since made some refinements. Enjoy!

News from my Modelrailway Room 11

Hello,

it's been some time since my last update of the layout. I had lost a bit of my modelling mojo, maybe because I started to put in a ceiling in my modelrailway room, it was quite messy. But I managed to film a new update from my model railway room, where I show the new ceiling and some little progress I made during the time. And I will speak about future projects.

Final travels on the Narrow Gauge Circle May 2020 (Pt 3)

Okay...Nearing the end here.

A few more things were lingering in the yard, sitting in the cool mountain air.  The family was having a good time sitting and having lunch, so who was I to bother them.

It appeared it was time to service #484's tender.  Up on jacks, it was quite a sight to see a "tire change" in progress.
