West Linncott - Open For Business!

It has been a while my first post (5-16) regarding West Linncott on my pike:

http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/26408

I can now say most of the "heavy" work is done.  Since then, all the structures have been placed, involving quite a bit of kit-bashing and scratching.  I took a locomotive and a few cars down there, we can walk around and have a look in the following post.

ViewerMail Flight #55 -

So you’ve just realized you can’t say the letter “P” without separating your lips… And you're embarrassed because you just tried it.

Convinced fish are just aliens from outer space. Wish you hadn’t used your CA glue to keep your hair in place on date night??

Interview on my railroad modeling activities

Under the German title 'Virtuelle Eisenbahnwelten' (virtual railroad worlds), the online campus magazine of TU Braunschweig, which is the University of Technology at Braunschweig, Germany, published an interview on my modeling activities. Several pictures I posted on MRH either in the blog or in the forum were used as illustrations. The text is in German but, as readers of another forum confirmed, can easily be translated online using the Google translation tool.

Atlas RS-1 "New Haven-ized" into DERS-1b #0669

Just completed converting an out-of-the-box Atlas New Haven RS-1 into a (90%) accurate New Haven class DERS-1b. While NHRR, the added steam generator details would be useful for other railroads. Lots of added details and pics on the build thread here.

Enjoy! And if you have any tips/suggestions on how I could do better and/or improve, please let me know!

NH I-1 #1001 at New Britain Station

I'm a bit behind here it appears. Here's another Kent Cochrane photo taken at the station. Obviously I was fortunate that two of the best New Haven enthusiast photographers (Kent and his friend Tom McNamara) were from the city I'm modeling!

Enjoy!

SRMX Gondola #29 Leased to Gasior Scrap on Paul Krentz N&W 'Pokey' Layout. Creating an interchange car.

Splitrock Mining Company had some excess gondolas after the construction of the line in 1955. A scrap company in Eckman, West Virginia needed some to lease. This is the story of how the  SRMX got one ready to ship east. Here is the 29 being pulled from storage at one of the mines.

Ontraxs 2017 At Utrecht Maliebaan Station.

Hello, this weekend past saw the Ontraxs exhibition at the National Railway Museum in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Since I live down the road (actually, three stations on the railway line) I popped by. This is the view of the museum as you approach it from the city centre of Utrecht.

3D Print of an Illinois Terminal Rodgers Ballast Car - finished

In researching the Illinois Terminal, I stumbled across this image.

From back to front, it shows some 36' IT boxcars, which Accurail is coming out with before to long...

Then there are some gondolas...

Railroad Modeler's Retreat. The Twin Cities RPM meet. Random photos of the event.

The Twin Cities Division of the Thousand Lakes Region of the NMRA hosted their annual RPM meet. It is called the Railroad Modeler's Retreat. It is hosted by Ken Zieska and held for two days in Plymouth,MN. A western suburb of Minneapolis. This years event was March 3-4 at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth.

Great turnout of local modelers. There were many clinics, displays, hands on demonstrations and even a catered BBQ lunch. Here are some pictures I took of the models and modelers. I hope you enjoy and comment.
