Murphy's Law in model railroading story

So I was able to bring my equipment to a foreign road AKA our local club. The layout is huge, 60'x100' and it is a 25 roundtrip run I went twice and of course all these things went wrong...

-Trip pins were suddenly low

-Cars would stay

-Almost a corn field meet

-Followed by a car shoving derailment

-Suspicious shorting out possibly me...

-Eventually it ran nicely.

So what are your experiences with murphy's law in model railroading these should be interesting...

Preferred DCC system for Loksound decoders

I'm using an NCE Powercab to run my HO shelf layout.  Nearly all my regularly-used locos have ESU Loksound sound decoders.

I've had the NCE system for over 10 years and it's not working as well as it used to, partly due to age and partly due to some drops to the (carpeted) floor.  So, I'm considering getting a new system.

What are the Loksound-users out there using?  And, would you recommend that system?

Module With a Turntable Focus: Scenery Added

Here it is (I really should have taken progress photos) a small 1'x4' module. The scene includes an abandoned track by an old warehouse, three small shacks and of course two garden tracks with a turntable. This turntable took 3 separate designs eventually deciding on this one. The track is non powered and I will just push engines on it as it is more of a scenic than operational thing. Scenicking starts tomorrow and may be finished in the same time.

Colorado Front Range March 2017 Update

We are finishing up the Sugar Mill tracks and an over view of some of the operation that will be done at the mill. Some new tool review. We will start scenery in April for this area. Hope you enjoy this months update.

Realistic power pole wire?

I’m getting WAY ahead of myself as I’m in the track laying phase and not scenery construction, but I’ve been thinking about an approach to modeling power lines. Specifically, modeling power lines that hang realistically. I’ll need to model power lines on my layout and I want the actual lines to hang like the real thing – not dead straight like many applications I’ve seen by other modelers.
