Here it is (I really should have taken progress photos) a small 1'x4' module. The scene includes an abandoned track by an old warehouse, three small shacks and of course two garden tracks with a turntable. This turntable took 3 separate designs eventually deciding on this one. The track is non powered and I will just push engines on it as it is more of a scenic than operational thing. Scenicking starts tomorrow and may be finished in the same time.

Nice start, but...

Nice start, but what are you trying to accomplish? Is it just to improve your scenery skills? Why not make it run? Have you thought of something a bit larger or more permanent? I'd be happy to hear more...

It was just a lot of trouble

It was just a lot of trouble to give the TT power, the garden tracks and lead all have power and this will eventually be part of a larger layout. The turntable itself is lasercut MDF with files designed by me.

I'm in the middle of making a TT. It kind of looks like yours.

Are you familiar with the split rail system? It might work for your TT. No wheels required nor changing polarity; just rail, wipers, and little wiring. I used flex track and modified it.

Looking Good

It's looking good, lots of detail in the scenery. What did you use for your turntable center pivot bearing? I have a couple of the commercial built plastic turntables, and they are too weak to use as built, and need a center bearing and outer support bearings to turn properly with a heavy locomotive on the bridge. the sides just rest on the pit for most of the round and I have a k'nex axle to keep things centered on the axis center it seems to work pretty well so far, FYI it is a 9-1/2" length
