Amherst Railway Club's Railroad Hobby Show

Okay... Amherst is big. You kind of come  to grips with that about building #3....out of 4.

It's almost midnight here and I don't even have all of the photos from today edited down - you're going to get what I have in sort of a free association thing. I was just snapping stuff I thought looked good or interesting, taking pictures without necessarily taking names....

So, starting in the comments, here we go....

16 1/2 feet of hops...

Since I got to see hops harvested back in late August, I've been somewhat dissatisfied with the hops field on my layout.

So I'm "growing" some new hops for the field...

X2011: National Train Show - Sunday, the final day

Sunday, the final day of the National Train Show.

The morning started out early with a 9:30am interview with Jarrette Ireland of Soundtraxx - see the interview here. Other interviews Sunday included Scenic Express, Walthers, Atlas, and Kendall Collins (blog entry).

X2011: National Train Show - Saturday Part II

Okay, I think my original post was getting a bit long, and since I still have a lot of photos to go... let's open up a second post. I'll begin with Bowser again - I got back to them later and got some close-ups of the C-630 and C-630M locomotives, along with their new Hi-Ad and Dofasco trucks:

X2011: National Train Show - Saturday

Saturday was busy - I spent the first part of the day shooting the photos for the Lego layout post, along with several other layouts, and then in the afternoon we did several interviews - I remember interviewing BLMA, ExactRail, the La-Ba-Ja club that won first place in the layout category (they're from Edmonton, so that got Les Halmos all excited), and Bragdon Industries. I easily may have forgotten one or two.

X2011: The dude with the camera that won't quit...

As much fun as we had at Sacramento, and as much as I've posted about (more to come!), I think my efforts at photodocumenting the National Train Show (and some related stuff), totally fades in comparison to the efforts of Harry Wong.

Go see his over 450 photos of the train show, and all of the new products, at http://www.pbase.com/tracktime/nts2011pix&page=all

X2011: One special interview - Kendall Collins

Normally at the National Train Show, we tend to interview/videotape various hobby manufacturers, with the occasional layout and hobby notable added in as well.

This year, we got to interview someone who doesn't fit in the above categories - although based on his skills, I think he should be notable in his own right.

X2011: Day 5 - Friday, the National Train Show begins

Yes, I know I'm posting this on Sunday - it's been a bit busy out here so this is likely to be a bit short.

Friday we didn't do any video interviews, preferring to get set up an discover what was at the show. I was very busy going back and forth between various manufacturers and our photo booth where Charlie Comstock turned models into 3D Click'n'Spin photographs.

X2011: The world according to Lego

I was asked to go take some photos of the Lego layouts here at the 2011 National Train Show. As I normally do, I went overboard....

X2011: National Train Show - Under Construction

We started "construction" of the MRH booth at the National Train Show on Thursday afternoon. Some vendors/manufacturers had been there since Wednesday, and some of the larger ones like Athearn and Walthers had theirs all set up and were gone by the time we got there.
