Looking for a water tank car

I'm searching for a water tank car, used on the Gilpin railroad in the late 1800's. I'm finding a lot of round tankers, but this one is a rectangular metal tank on a flatcar. Any ideas, I'm not adverse to hacking the tank together and kit-bashing one onto a flat car myself, but have not found much of any type of tank that would work yet.

I'm modeling in HOn3 scale so 1/87 sized. The tank held 2200 gallons of water. Basically a metal rectangular tank mounted on top of a narrow gauge flatcar.

Need help identifying spurs

I have a track chart of the Western Maryland out of Port Covington as seen below. I am looking for help identifying the industries that were located here. I am hoping someone may have some info to help fill in the blanks. The numbered areas are what I am looking for info on.

Diesel Servicing

Since diesels can run in either direction, how do they show accumulated mileage on the engine, or do they go by running hours for service only? Or is it a combination of running hours and mileage?

Era Drift - Modeling the 1960's and it's rolling stock...

Hi everyone,

I have a multi part question... I am primarily modeling 1954 but I have set my railroad up to change for multiple eras. I am now looking to 1969. My railroad is the GN and I am familiar with their changes in the 1960's, "circus cars, glacier green, and big sky blue" but I am less familiar with rolling stock changes around the nation at the same time. The GN was acquiring covered hoppers but the vast majority of their fleet was 55% boxcars and they were one of the few railroads making good money during this time. My questions are as follows.

Chessie "Moonshine Hoppers" question.

Question for Chessie fans out there.  Were the Chessie Moonshine hoppers only the 8 panel 2bay hoppers?  I have searched the entire internet (except the dark web) to find any of these, but no success.  I would like to get some Accurail open hoppers and make about six of them, if any of these hoppers could represent a moonshine hopper.  Thanks.

One-to-one scale in Winter Garden, FL

I live about 15 minutes away from the quaint downtown area of Winter Garden, Florida.  There are many cool things about the town, but what I really like is that there are TWO railroad stations open to the public (one of them is a museum) and TWO cabooses!

This Family Lines (L&N!) sits behind the museum.

And this Chessie sits in front of the welcome center.

Longtime railfans/modelers - how did you select an era, location, and prototype to model?

I have been a railfan and model railroader for 38 years (I’m 48 years old).  I have built many layouts in N and HO scale over the years.  Each had a different prototype RR, era, and location.  However, for the last 12 years, I have not been able to commit to building a layout for a specific era, location, and prototype.

Milwaukee Road Color Schemes

Hey guys,

Milw used to has various color schemes, like Black, Grey / Orange strip, Orange / Grey / Maroon, Orange / Black Maroon, Orange / Black. I wonder how those schemes were used -  which color scheme in which period? And was there any different  between the passenger and freight trains in the color scheme?

Many thanks,

Jure
