Railfanning around Fort Myers, FL.

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be in the vicinity of Fort Myers in the second week of March. I noticed a few tracks and I was wondering if there was any good spot to take pictures of equipment or just pics of passing trains? I guess they don't see a lot of traffic, but if anyone had some specific info, it could always help me.

Thanks for the info,

Chris

Outside braced box car with vertical siding?

Does anybody know of any outside braced box cars (North American prototype only, please) which had vertical boards instead of the more common horizontal boards?  I can see a good reason for the horizontal boards, but before I give up on a silly idea I had, I thought I'd at least ask if there was ever such a prototype.

accurail reefer car Northern Pacific.

I recently purchased one of these car kit.  I thought it was a very nice touch that the manufacturer put into the body of this car.  I am speaking specifically to the bottom of the car sides that can be trimmed out to match the prototype of this model.  I trimmed out the areas and it really makes that car.

Different type of roundhouse

Ok, I'm doing my research for my new layout. I've found some old maps of teh area and see that the Texas and Pacific had a roundhouse and turntable in Fort Worth, Texas where I am modeling. Nothing new right?

Help me understand

I have been spending some time drooling over the 2-10-10-2 locomotive. I thought the Big Boy 4-8-8-4 was the largest steam locomotive ever built. Was the 2-10-10-2 larger?

Thanks,

Gary
