Prototype information
Midvale Utah and its Bingham (my prototype) connection.
Trains to Bingham came through Bingham Junction (Midvale) then to Bingham canyon byway of the Bingham and Camp Floyd Railroad 1873. Smelters here processed ores from the mines.
Guilford box cars
Need help, looked high and low on the web (maybe in the wrong place) for dates when Guildford painted there box cars white and grey, anyone know or can point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Scratch Building a CN portable Building
Have you ever tried scratch building or kit bashing or a combination of both? If you read through my blog you will see I have done both. Kits are great and I have many on my layout built to the manufacture’s design. Kits don’t always fit the space. Kit bashing allows more freedom to fit a building to your space, time period or need. With scratch building you can design what ever you want or build a structure that you can’t find in kit form.
Prototype Photographs 2021
Hi All,
Went to see some trains today with my camera. Found a couple scenes that you might enjoy looking at.
In the spirit of the holidays I'd like to share them with You.
Hope the ensuing year is Happy, Healthful and Prosperous for you.
I’m looking forward to see and enjoy your prototype photos too again this year.
I truly enjoyed the last couple years photos. Thanks!
Nick

DCC Turnout Numbering for JMRI
My layout is based on the Georgetown Branch of the B&O and I would like your input on a configuration issue I have run into.
Sidings on the branch were numbered mostly in groups based on the area/town the sidings were located in. For example: in Bethesda sidings were numbered 203A, 203B, 203C, etc. At River Road, the sidings were numbered 204A, 204B, 204C, etc. Going forward I want to keep the prototype siding numbers on whatever paperwork I end up using, car cards, or switch list.

Railroads Slashed Jobs In Nov To Lowest In Decades... As Stocks Soared To Record Highs
This article may be of interest to a few who are interested in the economics and business side of railroading, or those who have or want(ed) railroad careers.
The trend won't be news to those working in the industry, of course, but may still provide a useful data point.
CNR RDC-1s and RDC 3 phase 1
I'm researching CNR RDCs.
I'm trying to figure out what the (i) means in RDC-1 D100(i).
Does anyone know what the (i) means? Does this mean phase 1?
The Town of Highland Boy gone now but not forgotten.
Bringing the old steam engine out to go back in time to visit the community of Highland Boy, totally ate away by the encroaching mine.
Using Full-Sized Prototype Radius curves?
I've been interested in designing a layout that uses full-scale, prototype-sized curves without resorting to any 'selective compression'. For N scale this works out to 43" radius curves (1150 scale feet in diameter) to represent a 10-degree curve on the prototype. My thought is that it would better represent the 'flow' of a real train as it negotiates such a curve, and that replicating such movement is a subliminal way to enhance overall realism. The other benefit is that it should make it easier to run longer trains with fewer issu
