Prototype information
The whole purpose of the mines railroad was to get the ore to the smelter.
We go back in time and look at the beginning, then over time the many changes of the Garfield Smelter.

CN Mainline Continuous Point Switch
I’ve been meaning to get photos of this turnout for a long time. A while back I was debating point lengths on various hinge point turnouts. Well here is one that has no hinge! I can confirm as I walked every inch of it about four times. And gaps that ever did exist have been welded. CN line along Grandview Highway in Vancouver at Kaslo Street. Just west of Central Hobbies. The switch is behind me in this shot.
Old Shovel Disasters at Bingham Canyon Mine.
Not a very safe job when you are a shovel operator. Manefay slide April 10, 2013 was the largest nonvolcanic landslide in history.
What is this prototype track arrangement for?
As I'm from the Midwest, I'm very used to seeing loops for grain and coal loading and unloading. But this arrangement is outside of Lordsburg, New Mexico. Anyone have any clues what this might be used for? Google Earth shows four UP GE's, a bunch of tankers, some (I think?) ore or ballast cars, and a fair number of boxcars.
Help and Advice needed, building a turnout
I recently made some Gauntlet track and to make it, I had to cut a pare of turnouts in half. I still have the other halves of the turnouts with the points on them. What I also have is a need for some slip switches. So I’m thinking about building a single slip switch from scratch using the leftover turnout parts from the Guantlet track. Does anyone have any advice for building such track pieces? Thank you
H O Window curtains and blinds
Hello People,
Would anybody who has the problem of finding a proper web site to print off some window dressings, please pass on the answer to me.
I have tried in vain to see what I'm about to buy but the web sites won't show me or they no longer exist. I've checked out the known makers of same but I find that they either don't have the particular images, won't ship to Canada or they are very dear in cost (I'm closer to nickel than bark to a tree ).
I would really appreciate your help. Thanx Steve Klein
Planning the Citadel Complex, help and advice needed
So, I have decided to start planning out a very important part of the White Lion Railways network, being the Citadel Complex, which is the official name of the Modern Columbus Union Station, in Columbus, Ohio. The Citadel is the Epicenter of White Lion Railways operations, being the Central station of the High Speed rail system that links Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, White Lion City, and Toledo, as well as the East/West railway line connecting Lima, Columbus, and Steubenville.
Baltimore, coal & steel & railroading
Lots of railroading around Baltimore, the birth place of American railroading. I happen to have chosen it as one of my major town destinations on my new layout. And I spend a lot of time passing thru this town when I was living in DC & Annapolis over the years. It was also a place where my father first took me to a great club layout located in the downtown area.
