Prototype information
Track example from the Lehigh Valley
Here is a nice map from when the LV was proposing their locomotive shops in Sayre, PA. Most of the regular buildings and tracks you'd expect.including both turntables and transfer tables.
The interesting track is on the right side of the Main Shop (red star). It's the tail of a wye that provides access to the shops and adjacent buildings but perpendicular to the shop tracks. The left side of the shops is the typical arrangement we see and duplicate on our layouts.
FEC New GE locomotives
The new GE locomotives are inroute to the Florida East Coast, they are painted in the original red and yellow scheme, being called the Champion Scheme. Here is a link to a photo of them in Waycross, Ga

Steamin' good Books (AKA) O Winston Link’s "Last Steam Railroad in America"
Just bought an amazing second hand book on Amazon - “The last Steam Railroad in America”.
O Winston Link’s photo record of the last days of steam on the Norfolk and Western 1955-59 including the Abingdon Branch.
For those steam buffs among you I can highly recommend it - seems to be plenty of second hand versions about.
ISO Magazine Back Issues
I am about to model three CPRail SD40-2s from Athearn models.
I am looking for the following magazines.
I am happy to pay a reasonable price.

Pricing for prototype (1:1 scale) parts
Our club has some unique railroadianna, and have been approached about selling our RF&P Headlight and number board (the one that goes below the cab) from a steam locomotive, don't recall the type. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a place to look to determine what price we should ask for it. The locomotive number is 304, in case someone knows something unique about that locomotive.
Thanks,
CCT caboose windows?
Anyone seen these type of CCT caboose windows up close?
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=20694
I'm trying to figure out how to model them (and exactly what they are?) They look like they might be fixed screens or perhaps some kind of replacement windows? Screens make more sense given the valley temperatures in Lodi :>) If anyone has any ideas let me know and if anyone is going to Portola one CCT caboose is in their collection so please take a good look........DaveB
How common are crossovers on industry sidings?
I see the following schematic quite often in layout plans and was curious as to how common they really are in real life? I've never seen one personally. I'm sure they exist.
Although the following is harder to switch, I tend to see these more, especially if the track has been around longer than 30 years.
My second free downloadable Calendar for 2015: Colorado Narrow Gauge
Just like my US-Diesel calendar, here comes the one for the narrow gauge and steam buffs. I like to share my free downloadable calendar available at my modellcom-blog. Sorry, but the site is only in german, but you may use the translation function to get a little idea about what is going on there (railroads, real and model and cardmodeling).
