I am back
I was gone quite awhile (still have been reading stuff though) due to parents telling me to take a break. Haven't had a chance to do much railroading but just read one of the latest Model Railroad Magazine and saw the club by me EMRRC (Elmhurst Model Railroad Club) has their N scale layout wired up for touchscreen computer control seems like a worthwhile trip since it is only a 20 minute drive just have to get my parents to take me out there.

Decoder Programming Education
Been having an interesting time of it setting up some new locos for the layout. The problem appeared to start when I tried to setup the long address for my new Rapido GMD-1. Worked fine at the default (de fault is always de user...) address of '03'. But when I changed it on the programming track to aything else the loco would brick. However, I could do a factory reset to the default address, this worked, and the loco was functional.
H.B. Plant Railroad Historical Society 25th Annual Train Show and Swap Meet visit
I made the one hour trek again this year to the H.B.
Track work inches forwards
I have finally got around to working on my layout again. Here is the new segment of my layout's road bed. Also, I have solved the problem of my lionel cars that are equipped with electro couplers. Since I inherited these ones, I wanted to respect them and not modify the cads in any way. I also inherited their magazine and catalouge collection, in which was a vintage Great Model Railroads MR special.
Marion 4160 Shovel painted and lettered
Although I still have a few details I would like to add, the Marion 4160 is painted and assembled, ready for me to start building a diorama.
More wiring fun
One of the more interesting parts of building this thing has been different styles of electrical connections. Quite frankly I can really appreciate the simplicity of IDC connections and ribbon cable. A lot less work than crimping RJ connectors on the end of a cable -- and a small vice is a good clamping tool.
The Neenah Project:
Today is the start of "The Neenah Project." This will be a model railroad built in a rented home that comes with some design issues. Stairs come down in to the center of the space. The "east" Half the basement is finished the "west half" is roughed "roughed in." The east side is wide open with a space of 11 foot 6 inch wide by 27 feet long. The west side is split into 2 separate areas the left a unfinished room and the right side the utility room which includes furnace/water heater/ washer dryer.
Transfer Terminal Kitbash: The Foundation is Laid
Getting back to work on the Main Project. The foundation is glued down and painted, and the tracks laid. Holes in the baseboard are for the occupancy sensors on the internal tracks.
Last Call
The downsizing list, complete with photos, is available for those interested in non-eBay pricing/bidding for items excess to my needs. I will be sending individuals who have responded to my email (calhounpa@gmail.com) the complete list on Saturday. Whatever stock is not sold will go to an eBay auction at the end of next week.
List is in MS Word format and all pictures are jpeg's. There should be something for everyone and everyone's budget. Thanks for your consideration.
Using the search function on this site
I just wanted to remind everyone and advise new posters that before you post a question on this site to use the search function to see if you can find answers. It's in the upper right area and is easy to use. This can be a real time saver and can reduce a lot of duplicate effort.
