Nano Motor use?

I was browsing this morning and found a site called "SparkFun" with some interesting stuff. They are selling a rotary nanomotor for about $9 .... rotates up to 60 degrees. I was thinking semaphore movement or possibly even switch motor.

I am wondering if you can leave one stalled for a fairly long period of time.

1940's and later narrow gauge in the US--searching for info

I know that there were still 2' gauge industrial railroads in the United States in 1949 and later, since one of the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum's locos is a GE 2-foot gauge B-B built in 1949.  Perhaps my google-fu is weak, but I have not managed to find any references to them on the net--does anyone have any directions to point me in?

Thanks!

MTH GP 35 update

MTH GP 35 box says DCC ready.  Has anybody taken the shell off one of these guys. I can see the 8 pin socket, but actually I am going to replace the board with a Soundtraxx board. I took off the couplers, but the shell doesn't want to budge. Are there hidden screws, tabs etc.? Their web site doesn't show how to take it apart, just an exploded view. So if you've done this or know how to, some guidance would be appreciated... Joe

Old Bachmann GP50 motor

I have an old Bachmann HO GP 50 with the small pancake motor that I am attempting to repair. The main issue is the plastic gears tend to split over time and no longer run smoothly. Sadly they are not available and used motors have the same problem. Has any member overcome this issue and if so how did they fix it. I am in the UK and my annual visit to NY is always short. Regards David

Demise of Polk's Hobby

From email received yesterday.

Polk's manufacturers the AristoCraft Large Scale and RMT O Scale product lines. The AristoCraft provided one of the broadest Large Scale product lines in the industry with generally good quality at a fair price. The recession and Chinese supplier problems really hammered them hard. They will be greatly missed. Note that The Crest electronics products are being spun-off (http://shop.crest-electronics.net/main.sc) to a new operation.
