Where to get pc ties?

Okay I'm ready to try handlaying a turnout. I have read books, articles, forum topics ad nauseum. But one question keeps popping up in my head. What are pc ties and where does one get them?

I started scratch building structures for my old version of the Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad. I would measure a spot on the layout, determine building size and type, make a sketch or drawing with pencil and paper, cut out walls with a hobby knife, paint, glue in mostly Grandt Line windows and doors, glue it all together, weather it and place it on the layout. Here's a not so good picture that I found that gives an example of what I'm talking about:

Paint Brand/Color Cross Reference?

I know I read somewhere (probably here) that one of the long time paint brands for model railroaders is not going to be manufactured any longer. I'm just getting into railroad modeling so I don't have all of the typical railroad colors in my paint collection. For years I've used, almost exclusively, Testors Model Master Acrylics. Has anybody taken the time to cross reference the 'typical' railroad colors to colors provided by other brands as an alternative?

Moderator: I've moved this out of Hobby Event notices since it isn't a notice.

I had a great time at the convention this year. I worked the Model and Photo contest room.

I will be posting a lot of photos to my Flickr account, I took 410, so it will take a while to sort them all out. I created a Flickr set of some of the photo and model contest entries, I need to go back and fill in names.

We had a great turnout at the contest room, the best that I have ever seen, about 300+ entries.
