VIDEO- Monsterrailroad Visits a Great Model Train Shop in Lansdale, PA

Well I finally had the chance to visit a Train Shop in the Philadelphia area since I go there every few weeks but never went to a shop until two weeks ago.  I was so happy to go out searching for a Train shop.  thru my searches I found that Lin's Junction was a good choice to drive to.  It was just 25 minutes or so from northeast Philadelphia where I stay.  Well here is the video diary of the visit with my great family.  Adarius was of course loving it the MOST!  That is priceless!!

As always, I thought some may enjoy a video. This is the latest.

Where's the Beef?

I have been trying to construct from scratch the loading pens for my HO diorama/small layout of Walnut Creek station in the late 1940's and early 50's (I am not too specific about time as I like the 50's and the idea of shipping cattle by rail to a distant meat packing plant but the pen was demolished in 1948) I needed to populate my loading pens with Hereford cattle awaiting loading on the three Red Caboose SP stock cars I recently acquired.

Thread truss rods on Roundhouse kits???.....

I have a couple of G&D cars mad by Roundhouse that a dear friend found at a garage sale and sent to me. In perusing the instructions I see that thread is used to simulate the truss rods but I'm not real clear on how it's applied. Does someone have a picture of a finished car or have a better diagram/explanation of what the instructions show?

UP opens a new intermodal terminal

It's not everyday when a major US railroad opens a state-of-the-art facility. I got lucky the other day when the Union Pacific held a grand opening ceremony for their new Santa Teresa Intermodal Ramp. The new facility will streamline intermodal operations for industry in the El Paso-Juarez region and reduce refueling and inspection time on mainline trains. Here are a couple of UP units and intermodal equipment that were on display at the event.

History's Most Iconic Layouts

What are the most iconic layouts of all time? If we all listed our opinion, would we have a consensus? Is John Allen's Gorre and Daphetid the layout that started it all? Is he the "godfather" or inspiration of all first generation model railroaders? Is Frank Ellison? How about George Sellios' Franklin and South Manchester or Allen McClelland's V&O? Who was your inspiration?

Let's give this a shot and feel free to state your reasons.

These came immediately to mind:

1) John Allen - Gorre and Daphetid
2) Frank Ellison - Delta Lines
3) George Sellios: - Franklin and South Manchester

A belated thank you

To my shame, I neglected to post this yesterday (Memorial Day here in the US), but I wanted to take a moment and thank all of our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice.  Nothing we regularly discuss on this forum compares to the importance of the freedom you purchased on our behalf.

Gratefully,

Joe Atkinson

ACI for gondola

I need some help in deciding where to put an ACI label on this gondola. I've found some images of prototypes on the net, but none with an ACI plate/label.
