Modeling general discussion
Switching from HO to N Scale
So I have been drawing and tooling around with my available space (15x14) and I keep getting stuck on how much I can model vs what I want to model. I currently model in HO scale, and like most have lots of $$$ invested in HO scale.
Now I know the benefits of using N scale, track vs scenery and all that.

Weekly Photo Fun - February 20 through February 27
Well, I can kick off this week...this weekend will be filled with photographing and shooting video of my Estrella & Sonora Grande railroad in On30, which will be dismantled very soon now. A fun but slightly somber time!
Robust (yard), Ohio - 'Somewhere deep in the woods' in HO Gauge
Longtime-lurker making his first post from t'other side of the Pond!
Welcome to Robust, Ohio, a down-at-heel Class III shortline on the former Toledo, Wabash & Western Railroad. Once a vital exchange yard of some importance, but no longer supplemented by its primary customer - a long gone sand/ gravel industry - it now serves as mere storage sidings for its current operator, the fictional Fulcrum County Railroad.

What's in your paint box?
When I first began this hobby in the 60's I quickly discovered the superiority of Floquil paints and learned to paint with them. When I went off to college, I messed around with oil paints enough to learn basic principles of mixing and brushwork. (I also learned that music was a much better career path for me!) I even used oils on a few models that still look good today.

Modern Logging Layout?
There is no shortage of logging layouts out there. They usually are done by what I would consider very fine modelers. They are usually scenery intense, often narrow gauge and many times are compact layouts in general. But they are always in the steam era.
mag Lev models?
A guy at work asked if it was possible to model a working mag Lev train. I'm stumped for ideas. Anybody have any thoughts on this. It would be HO or larger scale.

TMTV/MRH and Portland OR layouts for NMRA Convention
In preparation for this summers NMRA Naional, Barry Silverthorn and I are on the road in the Portland OR area this week videoing, photographing and interviewing the owners of some great looking layouts that will be on tour at the NMRA National PDX convention this coming August.
Old School build
Hello everybody. Have been a member for a while but am just now posting. A little background about myself. I have been seriously model railroading since about 1974 or 1975, and on my second layout. My first layout was poorly designed and in a limited space. I used it to learn techniques and to get trains running, but it had no operational opportunities. I have spent the past three years getting the basement train room finished, bench work built, track laid and some basic scenery land forms done. I finally decided to take a break and do a little modeling.
Setting Car Brakes
Not all my track work is completely level, when spotting a car, how do people "set the brakes" to keep them from rolling away?
Thanks,
Steve
Great Customer Service
A lot of you may already know this, but I would like to let everyone know what great customer service Woodland Scenics has. I had a part missing from a Scenic Details kit and they promptly replaced the part without any hesitation. Hats off to them.
