Modeling general discussion
airbrushing assistance
Hi all, been looking around the site for a while and finally joined. Looks like lots of knowledge around here and hopefully I can tap into some of it.

There is a great video and picture spread of the Washington Northern by Kevin Klettke........

photo- crisp shadows
First off, I'm not a photographer. I'd like to be but $$$....'nuff said.
Anyways- I was looking at my PC screen, which has a nice but out-of-focus low angle shot of my F7 w/ Pullman-green heavyweights crossing a trestle through a tree-tunnel, and I was wondering about a CRISP shadow line for photographs. Think about this: you're in an industrial area rail-fanning, the sun is low in the summer at say...8:30 in a mid-June evening, and the buildings are casting shadows upon your consist.
The legality of taking pictures or videos from a moving train.
It was snowy, the train was late and once aboard, I started shooting scenery. The conductor stopped me from filming as he stated that it was illegal. I complied and asked him if it was a Federal, State or Local law that would prevent me from shooting scenery - to which he replied: its against the law.

Looking for custom road vehicle craftsman
While I focus on my layout, I'm looking for someone who can work on a few of the road vehicles I have (HO scale) and clean them up, weather, detail, license plates, etc. I know there are many people on here to take on work for engines, freight cars, structures, etc. The vehicles are standard issue US cars from Fresh Cherry, Athearn, etc.
Please PM me if you can help. Thanks.

New acquisition for inglenook
Can't wait to weather it. I have no idea if these got to Canada, but I just had to have one.
In the first shot there is an old wooden box car (some did exist in 1974) and I'm wondering if there were any rules on where an old car like this would be placed in a train.

Easy Model Railroad Inventory Information
I would like to encourage everyone who is using Easy Model Railroad Inventory to make sure they have, either on CD or flash drive, a copy of the installation program. Why you might ask.
History of US Model Railroad Periodicals before World War 2
I am putting together a list of magazines regularly featuring Model Railroad topics before the start of WW2. I would ask you to review this list for completeness and accuracy. Since I was born after WW2, all this information was required second hand from primary resources, such as actual issues of these magazines.

How is stated Power Rating on Resistance Solder Units determined
OK, I asked this in another thread I started about understanding Transformers for RSU units. When I asked this question I got all kinds of answers EXCEPT an actual answer to the question.
I am not interested in other techniques or other kind of tools to use for soldering. I want to build a RS unit, but before I do I need to understand how the power rating on the Commercial Units are determined.

Using the search function on this site
I just wanted to remind everyone and advise new posters that before you post a question on this site to use the search function to see if you can find answers. It's in the upper right area and is easy to use. This can be a real time saver and can reduce a lot of duplicate effort.
